I think some ppl misunderstand China Zero covid policy.

The more important is the 动态,not 清零。

The answer is simple - Because China don't want to end up like US or India...each with over 1 million COVID death, official count or otherwise.

The author should know better, since she is an Indian. Rolleyes

The article has been authored by Ananya Raj Kakoti, a field campaign associate, Indian-Political Action Committee (I-PAC) and scholar. Gunwant Singh, scholar, international relations, Jawaharlal Nehru University.

the argument is

1 their health care system especially in the rural parts are poor and cannot manage a large outbreak
2 there are many seniors that have yet to take the vaccine
3 prefer self develop vaccine

i think the main reason is 1, if manage poorly and many deaths ..it looks bad of the PRC and Xi

the other 2 and 3 doesnt make sense, 2 they can force it and 3 proven Pfizer or mordena ...why reinvent the wheel

Nothing wrong for them to continue a method that proven
working even against toughest omicron.
After all WHO approved vaccines or all current jab vaccines in used
cannot produce sufficient antibodies at the entry nose and lung.
Until nasal vaccines arrival, their method may be most effective to
curb transmission though at a cost but to live with virus also high cost.
