Czechs who want to fight alongside the Ukrainians will not be punished in any way
#1

President Miloš Zeman and Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) discussed the situation in Ukraine, which was attacked by Russian troops and the Czech position on the conflict. They agreed that Czechs who want to fight alongside the Ukrainians will not be punished in any way, both guarantee impunity and abolition.

He stated that it was not possible to give a collective opportunity to go to war abroad and that due to the number of applications, it was not even possible to provide individual approval to applicants.

The president and prime minister guarantee abolition for Czechs who go to Ukraine. According to Fiala, signing individual exceptions is unrealistic. "We have agreed that we can guarantee impunity by abolishing the president with my countersignature," said Fiala.  The law prohibits Czechs from fighting in the ranks of foreign armies. The abolition concerns only those who will fight on the side of Ukraine. According to information from the Castle and the Ministry of Defense, hundreds of people are interested in the exception.
