Panama’s President Jose Raul Mulino has announced China’s Belt & Road Initiative will not be renewed by his govt. China in 2013, the initiative saw Beijing funding infrastructure. 
Panama joined the initiative in 2017 under a previous govt. Trump welcomed the Panamanian President's decision to end partnership.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for President Mulino to reduce Chinese influence over the Panama Canal or face potential retaliation from the Trump.
