Why Wong remains noncommittal on election date despite approaching deadline?

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has not set a date for Singapore’s next General Election, despite constitutional deadlines making a September 2025 polling date highly likely. Wong’s delay may serve to maximise the impact of SG60 celebrations and budget announcements, potentially giving the PAP a strategic advantage.

The ruling party is fully aware that it's self-serving policies have heaped hardship on all S'poreans, so the ground is definitely not sweet now. The govt wants absolute power so they can do as they wish to enrich themselves at the expense of citizens. As long as they cannot get absolute power, they will not want to proceed with the GE.

Despite the PAP’s longstanding track record, a growing number of S'poreans are expressing discontent. Key factors fuelling this sentiment include rising costs of living, widening income inequality, limited political competition, social issues, youth dissatisfaction, perceived lack of public engagement, the Iswaran corruption case, evolving expectations and the govt’s response to recent crises.

LW is uncommitted to an election date becos the long runway is shaky and full of cracks, that needs to be fixed. Probably, it take years or maybe, already unrepairable.

He is noncommittal on almost every question. E.g. sg60, angpow, LHY, etc.

He just provides the same model answers. He can be replaced by AI.
