Why do genuine football jerseys have poor quality iron-on sponsor's names?

Genuine football jerseys from the established brands like Adidas, Nike, Puma, Umbro etc. don't fade or require ironing. They can typically be worn for up to 20 years without losing their shape or colour. Why then do kit manufacturers use low quality heat pressed decals for the sponsor's name? They usually peel off or disintegrate after about 3 years of washing, thereby ruining the appearance of the jerseys.

They don expect a cheapskate to wear the jersey daily causing it to fade eventually..
Don want to fade then suggest embroidery....eventually the threads will come loose also lah..,nothing last lah...

The heat pressed badges, logos and sponsors' names on the authentic version will last no more than 3 years even if we hand wash our jerseys. I used to buy these expensive jerseys, but have stopped as I have no more space to store them. Many of my older jerseys have also been ruined by the peeling sponsors' names. It is fair to expect far better quality for apparel costing $115 or more.

When produced in large quantities, the cost of a jersey with heat-pressed, full-color logos—regardless of whether it's printed on one side or multiple sides—typically comes in at under $10 for the jersey material alone. What do you expect? How long do you expect it to last?

Unfortunately, even those genuine jerseys hung up in my cupboard for years without wearing end up with sponsor's names that peel off, tear or simply disintegrate. Those jerseys that I folded and placed stacked up ended up getting stuck to each other as the heat pressed decals became sticky.

I have never seen so many sponsor logos on a football jersey.

Hull City are known as The Tigers, but their jersey from 19992/93 was ridiculous.

The reason why more football fans are buying counterfeit jerseys these days is because of their negative experience paying $115 - $190 for a genuine shirt with heat pressed sponsor names and logos that peel off, crack or disintegrate after 3 years or so. Consumers like value-for-money so are opting now for $15 - $20 fakes so they do not feel so short changed when those decals begin to degrade prematurely.
