You want your close neighbour put NATO cannon guns at your door step.

Do you feel safe?
Furthermore there were 2 important historical lessons that Russia have learned. Once was French Revolution and the other one was WWII, Soviet suffered heavy losses when the aggressors attacked from Ukraine.

Ukraine's True History...

The Mongols began to expand under Genghis Khan, and that expansion continued long after his death. For more than 100 years, the Mongol armies swept South and West, demanding immediate surrender and destroying and slaughtering those who didn’t submit.
They didn’t suffer a real defeat until more than 60 years into the conquest at the Battle of Ain Jalut, near the Sea of Galilee — at the hands of the Mamluks.

Since then, Ukraine has enjoyed full political independence, but NATO's intentions to annex it, as happened with countries like Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, fueled Russian paranoia about foreign invasion. Gas pipelines, protests in kyiv, Crimea and separatist militias are part of the chain of events that led to the current crisis.

Kyiv was the historical capital of medieval Kievan Rus' from 879 to 1240, and is now the largest city and the capital of Ukraine. Legend states that three brothers, Kyi, Shchek and Khoryv, and their sister Lybid, founded the city. Kyiv thus takes its name from Kyi, the eldest brother.

Your statements sound more logical if you change the word "Russia" to "USA"!
