Which country has the largest most extensive rail network in the world
#1

The USA.

In the 1800-1950 rail was the most common way for people  to travel across the country. But it was replaced by air travel and interstate highway.

The rail system changed its role to moving goods across the country. So it is mistakenly believed US does not have much of  a railway system.
