As Steven has aptly put it, people here are too afraid of expressing views that are different from those of government. Every opposing view will be condemned as unfeasible or stupid. Compared to many countries I have been, people dare to put different views across, without ant fear of repercussion.

With such a culture as ours, people do not take any initiative and wait for the govt to tell them what's best for them.

NTU is a university of theorists trying to educate a workforce for the real world. You would have seen many stories poor cultural practices in NTU in the past few years, and yet NTU Business School professors are trying to teach students how to run businesses. Of course won't work.

To illustrate what I mean, you can try applying for a job at NTU's jobboard that you are somewhat qualified in. The job application status will forever be stuck at "under consideration" for years! The staff there is so unmotivated that they don't even bother to update the application status. If NTU is a company not supported by govt, it would have collapsed.

The Admin and HR staff are sleeping. The acad staff hv no motivation to change their syllabus and notes. Need a co-driver to wake them up

No, it will not. It is not possible to have a Real MIT and one FAKE MIT of Asia.

Also, it needs to churn out at least 100,000/ year IT Top Notch which NTU cannot do.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

It is not the university alone,
Sg must build or have industries that can employ those graduates.
As now Sg do not have any very strong local technological company.

BTW such institution emphasis on elite, can be very globalize, is Singaporeans
really prepared for it?

Realistically Sg should just focus one or two faculty, Sg market is too small
for all fields.
