Not a problem for him to renounce his citizenship. Just get his british citizenship and remain permanently out of Singapore. So what can Mindef do? It's his choice , his life his future.

This is common, especially his father is not Sporean.

There will be many more of such cases among the children of new citizens we got in the past 10 years. I have a few ex schoolmates who got SG citizenship and moved to other countries for work. Their sons are SG citizens but have no ties to SG. One of my classmates openly said that he will leave to his sons the decision of whether to serve NS or never return to SG. It's an easy choice. Another one smarter... let his daughter be SG citizen to get the benefits while his son was born in SG but followed the wife's CN citizenship.

PAP govt allows dual citizenship for person below 18 years old when the parents are of foreign citizenship
In this case, his father is of British citizenship, Harry Birtwistle is allowed to have dual citizenship.
PAP govt should ban dual citizen for all and person below 18.
It means Harry Birthwistle can have only Singapore or British citizenship and not both.
This problem is created by PAP govt.
