A woman in China who couldn't afford a teddy bear when she was 13 years old returned 10 years later on Christmas Eve to find the shop owner had kept it aside for her.

The teddy reunion story went viral after the woman shared it on Weibo, with users calling it a "Christmas miracle".

The woman, called Naifennaifenfen on Weibo, was a 13-year-old in northwest China's Shaanxi province when she took a fancy to a little brown teddy bear on sale at a shop near her school but didn't have enough money to buy it.

She desperately wanted the stuffed toy and begged the owner to accept a deposit of 5 yuan (70 US cents), which was all the money she had, and promised to come back for it with the remaining 20 yuan in two weeks.

However, she was unable to save enough money by the two-week deadline. Too embarrassed to tell the owner, she never returned to the shop.
