This guy story shows that one can pick up a skill.. Start a business from nothing with low risks.
He just learned Search Engine Optimisation from scratch found that small companies need it and offer his services
I was studying this on my own also. Although not difficult a small company is likely to pay someone to do this than spend their limited resources to learn and do this...it does make their website appear higher on search engines and can help promote a company.
The various areas includes:
1. Working to register site with Google.
2. Producing good site maps.
3. Using searchable urls.
4. Producing meta data that aid search bots.
..and so on.
I was looking at how someone can build a business around these services but not so keen myself as it is pretty low end and not too exciting. Better let others have this piece of bread and butter.
