What we want is government and civil servants do a good job. If they do properly then one party is OK. But I see so far their standard is not good enough.

one party is ok.
two parties are better because competition will always improve performance.

if not, we just need singtel, there is no need for starhub and m1.

Do you know when there's 2 quite evenly numbered parties, the people actually benefit the most? Cos the parties will be busy at each other's throats and they will want the support from the people so they give goodies more readily.

In the infancy state, Singapore benefited from single party. But for the last 15 years, you notice we don't have very significant stuff and the PAP govt love to rework some places regularly towards pump priming to stimulate economy?

Since we are at matured stage and things are more to do with polishing than initiating, might as well let them spend more time debating and putting the ideas thru fire. Lol

election is every 5 years.

to build a 2 party system, you need to wait for 5 years.

a 2 party system cannot be built in one 5 years.

it will take many 5 years to build a 2 party system.

it is better to start now because it may take 20 to 50 years to build a 2 party system.

The point is not on whether it should be a two-party system, but on giving the governing party a competition so that they know that if they don't do well they'll be kicked out. It could be 3, 4- party system, so that the main opposition party will also know that they'll get replaced by another opposition party.

Best is no party system.

Once you set a boundary, then the system will not be a good system.

NCMPs only get a very small remuneration compared to MPs, so are we expecting them to perform to the level of MPs?
