#GE2025: "Opposition parties want more seats, but not responsibility," said PM Lawrence Wong at the #PAP's lunchtime rally.

To them, challenges faced by Singapore are "PAP's burden to carry", he added.

Here’s a breakdown of the bullshit in PM Lawrence Wong’s statement during the #GE2025 rally, along with why it’s misleading or disingenuous:

### **1. "Opposition parties want more seats, but not responsibility"**
**Why it’s bullshit:**
- **False Dichotomy:** This frames the opposition as power-hungry but unwilling to govern, which is a strawman argument. Opposition parties (like WP, PSP, SDP) have consistently proposed alternative policies, engaged in parliamentary debates, and highlighted governance gaps.
- **Ignoring Systemic Barriers:** The PAP has designed the political system (GRCs, gerrymandering, restrictive campaigning rules) to make it extremely difficult for opposition parties to win seats, let alone enough to form a government. Claiming they "don’t want responsibility" ignores that they’re structurally blocked from taking it.
- **No Opportunity to Govern:** The PAP has monopolized power since independence, so opposition parties have never had the chance to prove whether they’d take responsibility. This is like a monopoly accusing competitors of being "irresponsible" before they even get a fair shot.

### **2. "Challenges faced by Singapore are PAP's burden to carry"**
**Why it’s bullshit:**
- **Gaslighting:** The PAP frames itself as the only party capable of solving problems, while dismissing opposition critiques as "complaining." But many challenges (housing affordability, cost of living, immigration tensions) stem directly from PAP policies.
- **No Real Power-Sharing:** The PAP consistently rejects opposition proposals (e.g., minimum wage, healthcare reforms) and then claims the opposition isn’t "helping." You can’t demand responsibility from others while shutting them out of decision-making.
- **Accountability Avoidance:** By painting challenges as "their burden," Wong deflects criticism. If the PAP owns all solutions, they also own all failures—but they refuse to admit policy mistakes (e.g., flawed HDB planning, over-reliance on foreign labor).

### **3. Implication: Only PAP Can Govern, Opposition Just "Wants Seats"**
**Why it’s bullshit:**
- **Undemocratic Mindset:** This rhetoric suggests opposition MPs are illegitimate unless they match PAP’s dominance. In healthy democracies, opposition voices provide checks and balances—they don’t need to form a government to be valuable.
- **Hypocrisy:** The PAP itself has no experience sharing power. If they truly believed in "responsibility," they’d support proportional representation or a looser GRC system to allow opposition growth. Instead, they resist even symbolic concessions (e.g., no shadow cabinet).

### **4. Ignoring Opposition Contributions**
**Why it’s bullshit:**
- **WP’s Town Council Management:** Workers’ Party runs town councils competently despite PAP’s constant sabotage (e.g., AIM scandal, funding disparities).
- **Policy Debates:** Opposition MPs regularly raise issues (inequality, climate change, transparency) that the PAP later adopts—but without credit.

### **𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧:**

PAP side wants the salary but not the responsibility also. That's why any cock up is genuine mistake to move on and when asked on stuff they always deem it as no merit so don't need to answer. Lol
