Oppo not only get no money, no power also and put their life at risk when they enter politics. At least they try to speak for the people and provide some checks against the govt. Hopefully next GE, one-third can get in and provide more checks against the miw. The ownself check ownself is a fallacy lah.

Not easy to hold high positions in govr or any depts, corporations, army, associations etc.

Their salary is the highest in the world. No where else can they get such a job that overpays them.
Even if they started with passion, after a few years, their values will change and they do get Swarm over due to $$.
There is many evidence that $$ can change people.
PAP Ministers are humans.
Impossible for them to be tempted everyday by $$.
Otherwise why we hear this quote- Money is the Root of all Evil?

Due to because now " stable " No power struggle unlike LKY days, etc after the British leave SG.
Thus that period who go into politics is really want to help the country and people.
