Racism can never ever be eradicated. 
It's a  fact of life.

Not here to defend anyone ....but let's think logically.

1. Suppose the child in question is white.
2. The judge is supposed to award each medal based on name stuck on the medal.
3. Suppose because of mix up the poor girl is left out.

If the girl is white, it is a careless mistake.he
But because the girl is black it becomes racism.

But people have could have jumped into conclusions.

And often it is this type of quick to accuse attitude that worsen the divide and fuel hatred. ....

I remember the black lives matter movement. Everytime some tragedy involve a black person and the police, they always play the racism card causing riots looting hatred.

Truth and facts matter and has to be given a chance to emerge.

Same thing happened to me years ago when I visited a shop store at Myers department store in Melbourne…as soon as I entered the store, the shop assistant walked away as if I didn’t exist…soon after when an Aussie couple entered the store, the shop assistant quickly came forward and greeted them with a big smile. Different treatment for Asians, so racist.

True... Australians are pretty  racists. 
I also experienced it there years back.

The judge could have made a check immediately with colleagues and officials around. Why didnt she ?
Why didnt her coaches came out immediately to made known ?

Apology comes 18 months late.

I experienced it when I flew Quantas from Singapore to London. The Steward served all the angmo passengers and bypass me, the only Asian there. From then on no more taking Quantas no matter how cheap is the air ticket is.

So the young gymnast did not get a medal and the apology comes 18 months late. That's it?. After the apology did they made amend by offering the young gymnast a belated medal and monetary compensation. From the video the young black gymnast was smiling, expecting to receive the medal but each time was disappointed when the officials turn to the left, right and back to hang the medals round the neck of the other gymnasts as if the young black gymnast was transparent. The two officials need to be censured for such racist behaviour.
