As the economy grows, Singapore needs to be rigorous in how it helps those who are not catching up, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Wednesday evening.

The nation is in a phase where everyone has to do more together, help each other, and the Government has to be there for the people.

But at the same time, Singapore must try very hard to avoid having the Government be the sole solution to all problems.

On supporting those left behind, PM Lee said that while previously they were spurred on with some incentives, the field has since spread out as the race went on.

Others face disruption when the world changes, and they may go from first to last.

“Do you say, that’s just the way the world is? Or is there something I can do to help them get back into the race again, and be contributing again,” said PM Lee.

He was responding to a question from Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait on whether the Government is drifting towards the left with the announcement of various support packages.
like that, S'pore must try to avoid having the more PAP MPs in the parliament.

Then who will solve the country’s solutions?
The oppos are not ready be the Govt as what ltk claimed
Ji Kay Koo ji Kay
He is talking cock lah. Singapore would have no problem if he and his useless team dun create the problems with screw up policies like importing CECAs to take Singaporean's jobs instead of training them for the jobs, increasing GST with no regard to current situation which drove inflation and cost of living into hyper level, etc.    Rolleyes
Right
Opposition party MPs to show their talents in parliament
Is the govt the sole solution provider to all problems? I dun think so. He needs to be more specific.

Many of those solutions proposed by the govt are actually crap.

If you want a perfect once and for all solution, pray. Is that too hard for you to do?  Rolleyes
These PApaya who are creators of these problems must bears the responsibilities and duties to resolve it, and not pushing it to the shoulders of citizens.

Since it's the Govt that is the cause of most of the hardship faced by S'poreans, they better come up with a solution fast.

The extremely high cost of running this Govt is a huge problem. Remember GCT declaring that anyone who doesn't earn at least $1 million per year is "mediocre" and unfit to be a ruling party Minister?
This end of shelf life PM is now trying to absolve the government of all blame. What are we electing and paying his team high salaries for?
THE GOVT IS THE ONE CREATING ALL THE PROBLEMS
THEN NOW WANT US TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS THEY CREATED WHEN THEY CANNOT SOLVE?
Like that then pap minister and MP shan't continue. Shall let some opposition to take over
Sg gov is the sole problem!
They just sit there and take high pay not doing their jobs, all they did is to increase prices for everything?
.
Aiyo why say so late?
Knnah, these craps create the problems and try to blame and push to peasants to solve it.    Big Grin
They create high cost of living and now tell us, they will help those not catching up? Simi LJ Rotfl

They don’t come and “rob” us, 就谢天谢地!

As the saying goes, 一人坐事,一人担. To push responsibilities is very unethical.
ok then fine but if PAP wrong will they continue to push their narratives
Vaccines might be harmful. Roads are empty. Stalls closing early

The average monthly salary of a S'porean worker may be drawn down in 2-3 hours by a MIW Minister. Do they even feel a tinge of guilt for drawing an annual salary which is enough to feed the average S'porean family for a lifetime?

Some Govts create a problem, then come in to "solve" it in order to be seen as "white knights", but ours create the problem, then tell citizens not to rely on their leaders to solve a problem of their own making.

The obscene salaries on offer and the recruitment of like-minded risk adverse scholars has resulted in entrenched "groupthink".  None of the Ministers dare disagree with the PM.  Even if they intend to, their spouses will tell them to shut up or risk losing their humongous wages.
If the current office politician feel they should not be the sole provider of all solutions you can step down let oppo go up correct? Becuz the pay are so obscene and so easy to earn dun wanna step down. If you think you got the calibre to earn your keep elsewhere then prove it, step down and go into private sector and then we will follow up to observe your calibre can or not. I know umbrage that fellow is not that capable everywhere he go company sinking but I think he is a scholar ?
