Many countries can move the population to higher areas. For example, Indonesia is preparing to shift its entire capital

As an island state we need to create dykes and structures to stop the rising levels. This affects our sea lanes and livelihood.
Perhaps you can look at Bukit Timah Hill and other hilly grounds like Gombak and see whether you can buy land and keep them for land banking. It will become gold when the sea level rise.      Big Grin
It is not a sure bet
climate change is a fraud
If Spore ends up like another Venice, not bad leh😂 Instead of driving or taking bus, we can travel using Gondolas…big tourist attraction!

Singapore is a tiny island.
With 700 sq km, it is easy to create dykes and structures to stop the rising levels.
Similar to Netherlands.

However if sea level really rises as prediction, what will happens to the vast coastal line of JB, Malacca, Penang.
And Forest City?

I am sure many will claim this until the day their living room is flooded in water.

World buzzing curiosity on largest iceberg, A23a, takes slow journey through Southern Ocean towards land where this giant chunk of ice is headed might mean for the places it encounters along the way. As reported earlier, it broke away from Larsen C Ice Shelf in Antarctica back in 2018. It's so enormous that it is about four times the size of New York City!

Currently heading northeast path has, as scientists said, seems to be making its way towards South Georgia, a sub-Antarctic island. This raises some questions and concerns about what might happen when such a giant chunk of ice gets close to land. South Georgia is known for its diverse marine life and lots of seabirds. A iceberg like A23a coming close can cause some disastrous changes, can mess with ocean currents and disrupt normal way things work in the sea. This might not be great news for the flora and fauna that call South Georgia home and can affect their livelihood in various ways.

Satellites special tracking tools help researchers gather important info to understand our planet better. Watching A23a travel through ocean is like seeing a part of nature's grand show. A reminder that our planet is always changing.

What are you trying to tell us?
Nothing?

You should be worried more about Singapore, not Malaysia, and providing some solutions

Solutions for Singapore were already in the headlines. Easy la...

But the JB and other coastal area in Malaysia and Indonesia never even talks about it. Especially FC.

Underwater in 10 years

Malaysia, as a maritime nation, must pay attention to the problems posed by rising temperatures. In this first of a three part series, our writer talks to a maritime environment expert who warns that low-lying areas in Penang and Kedah may be swallowed up by the sea within a decade.

As rising temperatures cause ice caps and glaciers to melt at ever-increasing rates, one marine environment expert has warned that low-lying areas, particularly in Penang and Kedah, may become part of the sea if nothing is done.

Universiti Sains Malaysia Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies' (CEMACS) honorary professor Datuk Dr Zulfigar Yasin said Kepala Batas and Juru in Seberang Prai, Penang, would be under water within a decade at the earliest, if the temperature and sea levels continued to rise unabated due to climate change.

He said the situation would be worse in neighbouring Kedah.
Sea level will increase by 6m after ice bergs melting

Now we are heading for 2nd stage.
Lack of land when sea level rises.

3rd stage will be lacked of food due to lack of land for growing crops.

1st stage was lack of water, mainly due to increase of world population and the western power damaged the environment for the past 200 years after the rising of Industrial Revolution. They did not apply I Ching(Mother Nature) wisdom during Industrial Revolution.

It is dangerous....Sungai Perak Raw Water Transfer Scheme to Penang unlikely to be implemented this year, says Saarani.

IPOH, Jan 3 — The Sungai Perak Raw Water Transfer Scheme (SPRWTS) to Penang is unlikely to be implemented this year, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

He said the allocation from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability to build the water treatment plant in Kerian, Perak must be received first, and other pending issues on the supply of treated water to Penang need to be ironed out.

He said the state government met with the ministry to discuss the project in November

He said the state government met with the ministry to discuss the project in November last year.

“There can be no agreement without the approval of the allocation. Once the ministry makes its decision, we can implement the SPRWTS. If it is just up to us the faster the better, but it depends on the ministry,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after the 2024
Queried on Penang’s request for 700 million litres of water per day, Saarani said it is dependent on sufficient domestic supplies.

“The sale of treated water is also subject to the agreement,” he said.

Yesterday, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the state will sign a memorandum of understanding or financing agreement with Perak on the SPRWTS in 2024.

The scheme is part of the Penang Water Contingency Plan 2030, involving an expenditure of RM1.18 billion over the next several years by the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) to increase the state’s water supply to 602 million litres a day. — Bernama

Penang facing the worst sea level rising problem. The Tsunami was a disaster around her coastal front.

Penang also faced water supply problems. Their Semi conductor factories, invested by overseas MNC needs huge volume of water.

Certainly billions of MYR budget must be allocated for their solutions to such crisis.

Penang will find desalination is not sufficient alone. And it is very expensive. Their water and energy bill going to be increase. And the Foreigners MNC manufacturers investment will reconsider future expansion.

Much more needed to be carry out to solve water supply problems. And rising sea level.

Unless the Federal government give a bigger budget to Penang. She will need to increase the livings cost tremendously.

Penang, Kedah may head to court over water dispute

Kedah claims that Penang needs to pay for the raw water it receives from Sg Muda, seeking more than RM50 million annually from its neighbouring state.

The unease over the sustainable and consistent level of water supply from Sg Muda, has since seen Penang reaching out to Perak for supply.

Sg Muda supplies water to 80% of Penang’s 1.8 million households after it is treated at the Sg Dua water treatment plant in Butterworth.

80% is a very high dependent for water supply needs.
Penang is seriously in big trouble if she needs to pay high cost for it.

SEBERANG PERAI, Jan 2 — The Penang government hopes to finally kickstart the long delayed Sungai Perak water scheme by signing an agreement with Perak this year.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said today as he braces for a four-day scheduled water cut that will affect 85 per cent of the island state next week.

He reiterated that the Sungai Perak Water scheme, which was previously proposed as the Sungai Perak Raw Water Transfer Scheme (SPRWTS), had stalled over a period of 12 years when Perak refused to provide raw water to Penang.

Now that Perak has agreed to provide treated water to Penang, Chow said discussions on the project have resumed.

"We are asking 700 million litres per day (MLD) from Perak under the scheme,” he said.

Treated water supply new deal from Perak is even much more Expensive!!!!
Looks like Penang residence needs to cough out much more for water supply.....jialat!!!
