The story which Gutzy Asia ran last night on patients at Ng Teng Fong hospital’s A&E having to wait more than 6 hours for a consultation and up to 25 hours for a hospital bed so outraged me that I decided to do some research.

We know of course that our population is 6 million, which has increased dramatically in recent decades because of immigration. Our government collects more than $10 Billion a year in Medisave if my recollection is correct. Now they say GST needs to increase because amongst other things we have an ageing population. But did you know that:-

Singapore has only 2.5 hospital beds for every 1000 people? Population- 6 million.

Japan, which is a famously ageing society, has 14 hospital beds for every 1000 people. Population- 123.3 million.

Korea has 12.8 hospital beds for every 1000 people. Population- 51.8 million.

China has 6.7 hospital beds for every 1000 people. Population- between 1.3 to 1.4 billion.

Taiwan has 5.9 hospital beds for every 1000 people m. Population- 24 million.

I will leave the facts to speak for themselves and for you to draw your own conclusions as to the state of health care for the ordinary Singaporean, who is unable to afford the Mt Elizabeth and Gleneagles.Even China with the world’s 2nd largest population can provide more than twice the hospital beds per 1000 people than Singapore with 6 million people!

Shocking and disgraceful!

Isn’t the solution clear? Stop the crazy immigration inflow and start building many more hospitals!
