I don't think there's a need to take these so-called media interviews too seriously. At the end of the day, whether it's mainstream or alternate media, their primary aim is to gain viewership and not to educate. The fastest way to attract interest is to emphasize "exotic" answers that are prvocative.

The reality is actually very boring - most people earn anywhere from $3k - $6k and generally can do basic survival with their income with occasional creature comforts. Of course, Singaporeans being Singaporeans, there are lots of complaints here and there, but otherwise the situation is what it is.

The S'porean Dream of a private property and car is now out of the reach of up to 80% of residents in SG. Only 20% do not live in HDB flats and only 11% own cars.

That's why it's a dream. If majority can achieve that, it will already be reality and nobody will be talking about it.  Wink
