Unlikely similar to SZ-HK.

Most user will still be the Malaysian, Ex Malaysian working, living in Singapore. Going home before, after work.

Shopper still needs to be clear in customs checking. Especially in Singapore. And RTS commuters don't drive vehicle. In JB, you need to drive further in for specialities. The public transport is not efficient.

It doesn't make sense for Singaporean shoppers to do this for daily needs.
And JB shopping doesn't have special items vs in Singapore. Or in E commerce. Buying low cost items in E commerce is much more cheaper and easier compared to JB.

The adverse reactions from JB locals towards Singaporean also put off many people from travelling over there. Not worthy for such anxiety.

SZ-HK are under the same country government. Easier to bridge the 2 together. Not for JB- SG though.
JHK and JHB will still come SG guard your condo, sell your Cai Png and Zi Char, sell fruits, cut your hair, wash your face, fix and service your aircon, repair and service your car, reno your house or shops. More atas one will do your banking and accounting, some say in stat board check trees or even end up in your parliament.

They will come here earn SGD and go back JB to spend in RM.

Sinkies will go JB and help them increase their GDP.
Dun worry too much. You'll cross the bridge when you come to it

Not easy when you don't trust the ever changing govt policy.
Especially with a possibility of religious law implementation.
No wrong or right for us, because it is another country internal affairs.

We just need to avoid complications going forward.

Just don't jump off that bridge because SG has become so unbearable for citizens.
