Who invited them?

How about US non-white atrocities? The blacks and asians got hit brutally hard by the whites. No boycott there? Why? Why like that?

The US is not helping itself by hyping up such petty tactics as resistance against China.

To be fair, China does have an image problem and given a personal choice of who they prefer to side with without regards to actual conditions on the ground, the number of countries that select US will outnumber that of China. But the reality is also that for majority of countries that prefer US, they don't really have some irreconcilable conflict with China and can accept the fact of China leading the world order even if she's not their first choice.

The only real lever that US has to rally all the countries that prefer her is that of soft power, but that is predicated on the fact that the US is able to meet two prerequisites:

#1 Ability to mitigate the loses that any country will incur as a result of standing with the US against China
#2 Demonstrate the leadership it has by actually going on an all out confrontation with China excluding nukes

So far US has failed miserably in #1, there is literally no alternative vision on how countries can follow the US order and recoup their loses. Everything is about shouting slogans of democracy and freedom - that's not going to lead to anything except endless forums, press conferences and garang joint statements.

As for #2, the US is at conflict with itself. It tries to maximize its posturing in areas where it does not need China's collaboration and yet concurrently seeks to cooperate with China in areas where it is beneficial to itself. In short, US is telling everyone that it is only prepared to confront China when the costs are low but will alternatively collaborate/collude with China when the stakes are high a la carte style.

It then tries to gloss over this fundamental dilemma by hyping up trivial events like a democracy forum, officials not attending Olympics, random MPs landing in Taiwan etc. These red herrings might work to some extent on the uninformed masses, but is otherwise a laughably infantile tactic to the real policy makers, subject matter experts and senior leaders of other countries.

You can see how futile these tactics are with regards to Singapore. Everyone sort of knows our preferred choice of leader is definitely US. But then our actual economical livelihood is actually closely integrated with China, the US demands that we go against China but yet offers no solutions on how we can do so without affecting our livelihood. In fact their own trade with China is surging through the roof, yet they somehow expect us to suffer the economic sanctions from China by standing with them.

For Singapore do we prefer a US led world order? Definitely. Is it the end for Singapore if China becomes the dominant power instead? Nope, life will still go on as per normal. It is no wonder that recently LHL, Vivian and Hen are all standing up and repeating the mantra that we will not take sides.
