The idea for establishing CECA began in a meeting between then PM of Singapore, Goh Chok Tong and his counterpart from India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee in April 2002.  The then Minister of Trade, S Iswaran was probably in cahoots with the Indian Govt to outsmart our naive, overrated and overpaid Ministers.

Most S'poreans do not see or feel the benefits of CECA. Only a few are enjoying life here after CECA:

The majority of foreigners working here, including FTs are MALAYSIANS.  But because they are Hans, they are accepted. You'd even think they are Singaporeans if you see them in an MRT or on a bus.

On the other hand, if the FT is an Indian, he is mocked...CECA!  CECA!  Chennai Business Parkkkk!

If CECA is controversial as you alleged, Pritam Singh would have spoken up strongly.  Jamus Lim would support him with a lecture on Indian's economy, as Economics is his forte.  The only person who really fought against CECA was Leong Mun Wai but he was minced by the other Oyk.  He was asked to have a full debate on that, but till nao, there's no sound no air coming from him...

CECA agreement should be extensively discussed in this General Election and steps MUST be taken to reduce their influence.

It is like a deal selling away our country. A county shd protect their own people instead of side-lining them. There are many countries who put their citizens at top priority.

Whenever I am in major cities like New York, LA, Toronto, London, Melbourne, Sydney etc., I encounter Uber and taxi drivers from Third World countries plying a trade that most locals shun. However, the roles have been reversed in my own country where S'poreans (including university graduates) are the drivers after being displaced at work by foreigners. Whoever is responsible has committed treason.

Our Ministers were outsmarted during negotiations for CECA which allows for the free movement of professionals, which has led to many S'porean PMEs losing their livelihood - particularly in IT and Finance. The influx of Indian workers has lead to wage suppression for those S'poreans who have not been displaced yet. 

CECA has put pressure on our public resources such as housing, transport and healthcare. A Third World country like India has not provided equal opportunities for S'porean PMEs. The Agreement is not transparent and most certainly did not involve enough or any public consultation. Please remember this at the next GE.

Well said indeed! Unity is strength for S'poreans. We need to be united as One S'pore instead of locals like "WhatDoYouThink!" who is the enemy from within, undermining this unity, by causing internal discord. This allows the MIW to divide and rule us.

Thankfully, my livelihood has not been affected by this CECA arrangement which is the "Mother of all Own Goals" scored by our overhyped, overrated and overpaid Ministers who were totally outthought and outclassed by their Indian counterparts who had a spy within the SG camp named Iswaran.

The CECA agreement must be torn up no two words about it. But that will only happen if the MIW lose their majority in the parliament.

Meanwhile, do everything you can to hire REAL born and bred locals and expunge all these fugging job stealer CECAs.

My business partners and I would NEVER hire any fugging CECAs.

Seen to much of their disastrous shite when they mess up IT projects with our clients and the entire financial services sector.

Last time when I am young hardly see any Ceca nowadays almost every few second seen one.
