At one time, Iran was very afraid to attack Israel directly

Israel was able to deter Iran

But these days, Israel has completely lost that deterrence

The missiles attack on Israel showed it all. Big bluff. Modern weapons can wear down Israel. Arab must build up airpower to allow mass bomb of few hundreds or few thousands kilotons bombs on ground.

The level if intelligence ot takes to pager bomb the hezbillah shows how extensive the mosad operations are.

They are ready for anything Iran can do.

Such "intelligence" failed to protect Israel from being bombed by Iran not once but twice in a row

Israel was only able to retaliate with token strikes

Israel has lost strategic deterrence against Iran

Israel has also lost strategic deterrence even with US protection

Worst of all, Iran now controls the escalation ladder against Israel, and all Israel could do is wait & see

The power balance has shifted in Iran's favour

How did it come to this?

Its got a lot do with US failure to defeat Russia in Ukraine 

With Russia's backing, Iran is not afraid of the US

The US must have restrained Israel to attack only the military facilities so that the war would not seriously affect the US election. Expect more serious attacks from Israel if Iran retaliated. Buy oil counters when that happens. Oil prices will rise like no tomorrow.

The idea that the US could have any power of restrain over Israel, is as good as saying that the US has 100% control over a ceasefire. 

But Netanyahu rejected a few rounds of ceasefires sponsored by US, and even asssasinated Hamas' chief negotiator. 

So, the Israelis are not restrained by the US or UN. 

Its the Iranians that restrained them. Israeli jets were locked on by Iran's /Russia's air defence, enough to scare them off.
