Good article. But the reasons given won't change with Trump's presidency. In fact they'll get worse.

Who ever the president the good days for US is over. It will be down hill all the way with occassional sporadic surge in USD and Dow due to fervent euphoria like the current election in US where Trump wins.

So dun get carried away and lost your way.

This is a good summary without political undertones that I encourage forumers to give a quick read. EU and Japan are in the same predicament, but lack the reserve currency status and financial market clout of the US to translate their massive borrowings to at least maintain a facade of growth. They can barely maintain their stagnation even with massive borrowings. 

That is precisely why China refuses to enact massive stimulus despite massive media bombardment from western media as well as locals who own stocks and property investments. Problem is this puts significant strains on social stability and consumption which might impede the overall plan to transition to high end manufacturing and services and pivot trading to third world countries. It remains to be seen how they can navigate the choppy waters.

The situation with EU and Japan was already very bad, but with Trump back promising to set everyone on fire in his pursuit of American First, EU and Japan are now hopeless cases of death by a thousand cuts. Don't let the media fool you into thinking they still matter, one is better off spending time following US, China and the rest of the developing countries than waste time on these two.

I have to agree with you that the Americans aren't very intelligent, at least a lagre number of them. Those who are more clever are in the states of Massachusetts and California, and those are the people who have not voted for Trump.
