This was always going to be the outcome the moment US and China both agreed that having Taiwan make most of the semicons in the world presents a national security issue. The smaller Tier 3 Taiwan companies are now on the brink of wipe out and even Tier 2 ones like UMC are struggling to stay relevant. It is only a matter of time even the Tier 1 TSMC goes down.

There is no way a Taiwanese company can take on the onslaught from two of the most powerful nations in the world determined to bring it down. It is what it is and will be what it will be. TSMC Chairman can try to delay the process by BS-ing the market and going for smaller nm production, but the end result will be the same.
