PSP uses the word "overblown" on the tariffs.
Guess they don't understand the seriousness of the global situation.
1929 depression started from tariffs.
The global chain broke.

Moi leecall many PSP seem to be very pro-CCP, even promote their vaccine, infrastruture, economy and such. So likely they shared similar idea that the trump tariff ish just cheeken feet, sky won't fall on them one.
It is overblown

10% tariff and any indirect impact from other countries faced with higher tariffs are really muted

In fact, Sinkiepoor will benefit from Trump's tariffs as he does it to over 106 countries and Sinkiepoor only has 10%

Any country worth its salt can easily withstand 10% tariff unless PAP is impotent and useless, which likely it is

This just goes to show how immature PSP is. Other than Leong who has a bit of fame asking some tough questions, the rest of the party is a joke.

Is it likely PAP is capitalizing on this for electoral purpose? Of course and I'm sure most people already know that.

But when the whole wide world is reporting a global upheaval and potential 1930s depression, how can PSP come out and publicly claim the issue is overblown and not that bad? All this does is instantly create an impression this is a circus party that has no strategic depth and just shooting through the hip to get attention.

It's just poor optics and an idiotic way to campaign.
This is a Global Topic faced by most countries outside USA. They cannot handle the challenges ahead and want us to back them up which I have a choice to refuse.

They should tackle the domestic issues for us first rather than pull us into the mire. Sounds like Hitler Brainwashing the civilians to fight a war.
Pl don’t anyhow twisted history, in 1930 the tariff was imposed only after depression.
The Great Depression began in October 1929 with the stock market crash known as Black Tuesday. In response to economic challenges, the U.S. government enacted the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act in June 1930, significantly increasing tariffs on imported goods. This legislation aimed to protect American industries but is widely believed to have exacerbated the economic downturn by prompting retaliatory tariffs from other countries, leading to a substantial decline in international trade.

True, but I'm not aware of any mainstream narrative claiming that "Tariffs cause depression in 1930s so the same thing will happen in 2025." What I'm reading in media is this is an unforced error by Trump which elevates the risk of a major 1930s style depression, so not sure of the relevance of what you are raising here?

Anyway this is too macro already, fact of the matter is no matter what this is bad strategy from the PSP. Instead of them taking on the PAP, they are now instead throwing up unorthodox views that go against the global consensus. Instead of targeting PAP they inadvertently end up challenging what most of the world is saying.

So what if a year or two down the road they are right? By then the damage would have already been done to their electoral results, nobody will be interested in their "I told you so" by that time anyway.

A lot of people fail to realize the importance of this election to the PSP - it is make or break time for their survival. If they are unable to win a real MP seat, all it takes is for WP to increase their seats slightly or even lose less and that's the end for them. No NCMP, no exposure, TCB getting too old and influence would be gone soon, LHY issue too old to bring to the next election, no star candidate etc. They are in real danger of becoming "others" if they are not careful, yet they are making juvenile mistakes like this. Not a good sign...
In this present age and time , with everything becoming more expensive, government is still intent and wasting money to build a Founders Memorial? Really shit spending of tax payers money.
fear mongering PAP
fear mongering PAP
fear mongering PAP

Not that serious lah

It is overblown and say it as it is

Fear mongering, that's all

10% is nothing

China is hit 54% but look at their govt? Never instill fear and no whining

Just strong actions

LW should focus on saying 10% sup sup sui instead of fear mongering

He should instill confidence and not whine childishly abt friendship with America, yet treated with 10% tariff

Dun tell me 10% tariff Sinkiepoor cannot withstand meh?

Overblown like sheet!
30s depression is not caused by tariffs lah ...
