Two US officials told Reuters that Chinese-made Pakistani fighter plane shot down at least two Indian military aircraft on May 7,marking a major milestone for Beijing’s advanced fighter jet. An Indian Air Force spokesperson said he had no comment when asked about the Reuters report.
One US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there was high confidence that Pakistan had used the Chinese-made J-10 aircraft to launch air-to-air missiles against Indian fighter jets - bringing down at least two. Another official said at least one Indian jet that was shot down was a French-made Rafale fighter aircraft.
Both officials said Pakistan’s F-16 aircraft, made by Lockheed Martin, were not used in the shootdown.
India’s febrile media, quick to trumpet India’s prowess in striking Pakistan, has barely reported the shootdown story.
Given that confirming the loss of one or more fighters – and the Rafale, no less – would be a major scoop for any Indian reporter, it is curious that a story, quoting defence ministry sources, has not emerged about the shootdowns.
One possibility for this is that the government of prime minister Narendra Modi has muzzled the Indian media on this topic. Modi, ever sensitive to his image, has exerted increasing pressure over Indian news outlet in recent years. News that India’s air force suffered embarassing losses will not be welcome.

If u seen the Pak spokesman presentation of how the dogfight was done, India was almost blind and Pak has all the flight info of Indian side. Kinda one sided. Only India jets shooting out missiles were taken out.

AEWC to trace all flights,
process and plan the best position to fire,
data link to the jet to execute the kill.

An ex-USAF F16 pilot "Mover" share his view on the Pakistani press briefing about the 1 hour air-war on 7 May early morning.
He comment indicates the tactical info share seems largely valid and it is clear to him the fight was big and BVR between Indian and Pakistani fighters.
Note the time of encounter over Kashmir was 100% at night - which means the pilots will be fully dependent on radar with zero visual dogfight.
The Washington Post (9 May 2024) India’s air force appears to have lost at least two fighter jets, including one of its most advanced models, during attacks Wednesday morning on sites in Pakistan ....In a review of visuals posted online, The Post verified debris consistent with at least two French-made fighter jets flown by the Indian air force.
Internet users in India are blocked from accessing Chinese and Turkish news report on X.
Why is the Modi gov trying to hide from their own citizens on what REALLY happen to their crashed Rafale jets on 7 May 2025 when India attacked Pakistan in the night ?
In contrast, India dare not block US & UK news agency which also reported US intelligence confirm at least 2 Indian jets were shot down by Chinese-made BVR missiles.
