Trump selling koyok as usual. Federal funds rate is not determined by the Fed Chairman, but by a democratic process comprising of 12 FOMC members.
Even if Trump nominates a non-FOMC guy as chair and assuming it gets passed by Senate, that's just 1 confirmed vote that supports his massive interest rate cut agenda. It does not in any way imply suddenly the Federal Reserve is just going to do whatever he wants.
The conflict between the Trump administration and Fed is not about some personal grudge between Powell and Trump as the latter seems to be implying, but a fundamental difference in opinion and conflict of interests.
