But to be fair, there is nothing they can do about it.

This is not a domestic issue that's within their ability to do something about it.  It is the external environment....covid affecting labour and logistics, and now the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The most the government can do is to give the lower income HH some help...like food vouchers.  But they cannot force prices to drop.....

Just had farmed golden pomfret (from LactoSea) for dinner. It is selling for around $33/kg.
Whereas in China Guangdong, there is now a oversupply of this fish and price is going as low a S$3.30/kg !!!

Is always like this, take from supplier depend which one some offer cheap if you get a lot , vary the prices than of course you need to mark up the selling price minus your cost price = profits.

With a jump in prices by rounding up, more profits to be made too.
