A netizen shared a story about how his friend had struck TOTO and won a quarter of a million dollars, and decided to quit his job and just enjoy life.

However, he soon spent it all and ended up back to square one, broke and now continues to be without a job.

Here is what he said
“My friend struck TOTO more than half a year ago, winning $250k from the Group 2 prize.

He gave all of us about $5k, then went ahead to quit his job, saying that he wanted to go travelling and enjoy his life.

We told him that it was a bad idea and that it wouldn’t last, we kept trying to tell him that he shouldn’t quit his job because he won $250k, not $2.5 million.

He told us that we were just jealous of him and said he knew what he was doing. He quit his job as a HR manager.

We saw on his Instagram in the months that followed, photos of him with different women in different countries, partying, drinking, gambling and going to expensive restaurants.

He even went to the famous Salt Bae restaurant and got the head chef to feed him a tomahawk steak with gold foil on it.

Anyway fast forward to a few months ago, he returned to Singapore and started asking all of us out. But this time he didn’t treat us to anything and insisted we split the bill, which we had no issues with.

He then told us that he ran out of the money that he had won from TOTO and said that he has been looking for a job for more than a month.

He said that he was down to about $3k inside his bank account, and that he regrets quitting his job so soon, and wants our help to help him on his unsuccessful job search.

We said “told you already what, you see la? Now become like that…”

Anyway we tried to get him job opportunities in our respective companies, and are still waiting for our companies’ reply.”

An unlikely story. According to Payscale, HR managers are paid around $70k in basic wages and if we add in other things like AWS, bonus, allowance etc. would be 80 - 90k in total a year.

$250k is not even 3 year's worth of pay to him, would anyone suddenly go all bonkers and party all over the world just because he got a windfall worth 2 - 3 years salary? Some people can already get that much just from retrenchment benefits...
that site info is crap,

everytime say " netizen post , claim "

is actually ownself create story to write

nevertheless this is quite common for some winners what part and parcel even in USA , other countries too.

A lot claim ok ok i must relax , control this Sudden Huge wealth
but most will forget etc hard to resist.
$250k only..even 1 M can finish if anyhow splurge.
Sounds familiar.

I have a engineer friend who opened a pub at tanjong pagar after winning 1.5m fifteen years ago.

Today he is driving cab to make ends meet.
Unlike hard-earned money, easy come easy go lah.
Either a BS story or he is really a fool.
