A young couple brought a new born baby to a babysitter (Mdm Liew, 40s single mother) in Kuala Lumpur. It was 1960s then and Singapore recently separated from Malaysia. 

Mdm Liew's family (mother and siblings) were residing in Singapore. Mdm Liew have 3 children then and new born was the fourth child she had to care for.

The young couple gave Mdm Liew $300 (big sum then) to watch over baby as baby's mother have to be in hospital for another week. 

After two weeks no news from baby's parents. Mdm Liew went to hospital to look for baby's mother but no information. Mdm Liew was stranded with one more baby to care for.
