KUALA LUMPUR: The High Speed Rail (HSR) project can continue as long as there are investments from the private sector, says the Transport Minister.

Anthony Loke said that the government is open to proposals to revive the project connecting Singapore and Kuala Lumpur without using public funds.

“We’re open to any proposals as long as there are private investments. We’re not stopping it (the HSR project),” he told reporters at the Invest Malaysia event held at The St Regis here on Wednesday (March 8).

The minister, however, added that to date, the government has yet to receive any complete proposal from any party despite talks pushing for the project have been around.

“A lot of parties are talking about the project but we haven’t received any complete proposal.

“There is no timeline for the project because the agreement has been cancelled by the previous administration led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“There’s no urgency in reaching any milestone,” he added.

Lanjiao la, KL-SG HSR project can go bang wall. Any money spent on building a HSR that only rich business people will have any incentive to use between KL-SG is far better off double tracking, electrifying, and modernising Malaysia's conventional rail network first. SG-JB is more important than SG-KL, and there's already the new MRT line being built to link Woodlands with JB, what for build a HSR?

Singapore-Johor Customs is one of the busiest in the World not without a reason.  This situation will get worse and not lessen.  The Singapore-Johor MRT will not be able to solve the congestion because commuters will not be satisfied for just being able to stop in JB.  They would still drive up to the North.

The rich will not drive or take road transport;  they fly.

There's really no need to solve the congestion. We want people to come here and work and live here, rent houses/room. not to travel back and forth to JB, earn SGD but live like a king in JB.
Knn!

The project was cancelled when he was transport minister under Dr. M lah!

Now tok cok for what?

Mahathir defends move to scrap KL-S'pore HSR

Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad has defended the move to scrap the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) project, insisting that the line was too short and did not save much time compared to other modes of transport.
bolehland prata jhj.
What a dumb statement. Building HSR is not what the private sector can do or lead. How is a private company going to compulsorily acquire land to build the railway line?

Indeed it may be a blessing that we did not go ahead with the original plan, with such incompetence on the northern side. Can you believe that due to lack of maintenance, the Aerotrain that links the two terminals in KL airport has stopped working? I can see the HSR crashing one day due to lack of maintenance if it is ever built.
Strategically beneficial to SG but partnering Muddysia Boleh ..... it's throwing $$$ into their longkau
They listen and listen and listen until kingdom cum, if there is no undertable

Once bitten twice shy. Next govt cancel again and again and again. $ throw away.

Better let third party (foreign) to do the job. Build, own and operate. SG and Malaysia leasing the land to them 99 years. That's the way to go.

Any problems, in operation cost and maintenance. They bear it.
