Apple is demanding they set up separate factories and teams to supply Apple. This is a joke right? Who is Apple in the car is industry? CATL and BYD hold key technology in battery and they have no shortage of customers from existing car companies going through electrification. 

What happened to company supply CPU to Apple? Apple played them out by creating its own CPU and threw the supplier out of the window.

Now Apple is talking to Panasonic. But Panasonic got burnt by same type of deal with Tesla. Tesla after using Panasonic battery and working the Japanese like hell squeezing them dry with low price and demands them co-locate battery...now throw them out by developing its own batteries after learning Panasonic's technology.
 
Apple is arrogant to expect such deals from companies that are growing much faster than Apple and hold key technologies in a disruptive business that Apple is a "nobody".

CATL did deny this news:

CATL said in a statement to [i]Reuters[/i] that it denied “the relevant information. We are evaluating the opportunity and possibility of manufacture localization in North America,” it said, adding that it has a dedicated professional team exclusively for each customer.
