Parliament votes against Progress Singapore Party's motion to abolish GRCs

🏛

With WP support and agreement to GRC Clapping
GRC allows weaker candidates to ride on the coattails of more established or popular candidates.
PAP need more parachute or backdoor ministers...cannot lah.
>90% seats vs small cats 2 or 3. motion smlj also no use one. Sad

Need to vote out more whites before sinkie can sexpect any real changes.

And really should break up these electees the roles into MP and legislators rather than lump all into one. And definitely should abolish the need of mayor roles, really kum gong to have so many GRCs and mayors in such a tiny red dot, not as if we have dozens of megalopolis to manage.
This is their current winning formula.
1 by 1 gentleman fight(君子斗)sure lose until Buey Lin Chu.

Very soon, you may see 10 MPs in 1 GRC. Rotfl
Why waste time on such matters? No better things to do?
Dont laugh! Play dirty trick(玩臭) is still a tactic lah. Rotfl

Yes, WP and the LOTO voted against abolishing it.

Why would Pritam object to PSP's proposal?  Well, if GRC is dismantled in the next GE, they cannot retain Aljunied and Sengkang anymore.  They will have to contest in SMC, and WP may lose several MPs.  Maybe he would also be voted out in a one-to-one fight with a strong PAP MP.  And who's left in his Aljunied team who's better?  None.  So all of them will be booted out.

The only WP MP left might be Jamus Lim from the Sengkang side. All the others cmi.

Based on these calculations, you don't sexpect Pritam Singh to vote for it.
Single party member if committed wrong finished

Did you even read the news? WP argued for abolishing it.

You are saying the same things which had been said in edmw over and over and over.  Nothing new.

In fact, LMW's points....everything, every topic he had ever touched on...........completely resonated with edmw's points that were brought up by the 39%.

And we know that LMW apologised in Parliament a few times.  If he did no wrong, why would he apologise?

He was rude to everybody who was in white, which is not a way to conduct oneself in public, and certainly not in Parliament.   He was rude to the Speaker and recently was taken to task for a video his party put up which spread falsehoods about the Speaker and Parliamentary proceedings, claiming that he was denied time to ask questions, when in fact he had asked all of his 11 questions.... and he likes to evade questions asked of him, twist and turn like a snake, but never mind, the 39% lub him deep dep. Very stupid thinking. There have been many many past instances where even when people are in the right they will still apologise, simply because they are up against more powerful people. How many times do you have yo apologise to your boss even when you're right.

Let me just recall your memory to the case when some people apologise to Durai (from NKF) for saying that he had spent lavishly. These people were proven right in the end.

I never apologised to any of my superiors wherever I had worked because I know how to conduct myself at work.  I wash dishes and wipe tables for a living, so once in a while, I did apologise to a dish I broke...that I did not mean it, it was an accident.   Big Grin

LMW was lucky to have worked in positions of power.  Maybe he could speak that way to his staff, they would apologise to him even though the person who was in the wrong was LMW himself.  But Parliament is not his ex-company (ies)_. Rolleyes

Bo bian one, that ish the sad and pathetic stage of red dot politic ish that beggars cannot choose. If sinkie want check and balance, they need to vote more opps into the house, be it hooligans or idiots. But if they want quality, moi do not foresee in next 1 or 2 decades that opp to be able to fill even 10%, let alone 40% of the seats with enough quality candidates to achieve that target, and quality opp can't do $hit just NATO nia if they don't have enough seats to exercise their power. Not that higher mortals are giving enough quality candidates too to fill their 90% seats, many of them just parachuted in because of the system and not really qualified to be a civil serpents too and regardless their education or commercial status, are lacking the empathy and integrity to serve the common people.

Yap. Now WP got 2 GRC. His position changed. Go against PSP.

And LMW was left alone to dig into GRC saga.
He likes to argue for the sake of arguing. Playing up issues with his hidden agenda. Until caught wrong footed, then apologies to escape consequences.

At first, he will looks good. Championing the ground voices. But after you study closer on his question and logics. It is firing blanks non stop. Insinuating grievance.

Although Pritam is supposed to be the LOTO, it's not in his interest to see PSP becoming stronger. If PSP wins a GRC it's one less GRC for WP.

WP does not believe in coalition. It believes in taking the whole cake. It's PSP which wants to gang up with Chee Soon Juan, Lim Tean, Goh Meng Seng....
Goalpost shift already and wont go back to its original position

I agree!

3 FULL time candidates is better than 5 or 6 part- time candidates

Having more than 30 JLB waste money

Yalor! Big Grin Already know who will win liao lor!
Chan C S is one of them tag with others to get elected under GRC system. Ong Y K used to go solo contest at Hougang lost , next GE tag with others in GRC and get elected still got quite a few currently MPs/ Minister too. Summary , GRC system is a way for ruling party easily get those candidates they want to get elected. If all wards are SMC I doubt PAP can win much votes due to the candidates they produce and choose. Next , They claim GRC is to ensure effective in the wards but why now add in Mayors over see eventually waste more resources than use this to increase this and that... In fact without GRC system. It will test a candidate him/herself individually how he or she contest and win that ward voters votes.
