Perikatan Nasional (PN) drubbing in recently concluded Nenggiri by-election was partly contributed by voter base as pundits observed Bersatu supporters have not only refused to go out, but have given Umno their votes too.

Political analyst Azmi Hassan believed real loser in the by-election was PAS due to the candidate issue which led to the worst boycott by Bersatu supporters

Opening wings’ AGMs, Tok Mat says Umno must high when ‘toxic’ rivals go low.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan opened his party’s general assembly this year with a message of positivity, warning his delegates to eschew the toxic politics and hate speech that is taking over social media.

He urged members to reject such negativity and to instead build unity, saying the party is beginning to see the benefits of joining the unity government over the past two years.

When launching the assemblies for Umno’s Youth and Women’s wings, Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, said there was an unprecedented rise of “toxic politics” in Malaysia. He described this phenomenon as being characterised by extreme slander, hatred, and derogatory language.

He said that since the 15th general election, there was a significant increase in “political hate speech” and emphasised that social media has become a platform for promoting this toxic environment.

Dr Mahathir also said that "Mohamad” and "Iskandar” are both Malay and Muslim names.

When asked if he knew that the word "Kutty” is not defined in the Kamus Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (a Malay language dictionary), Dr Mahathir said he does not know about this, but also said "Kutty” is not a Malay name.

Asked by Mohamed Shahrul Fazli if "Kutty” is a Muslim name or has no meaning, Dr Mahathir replied: "Yes, Kutty can be a Muslim name or non-Muslim name, but that is not my problem.Rotfl
Asked in summary about all three individual names in "Mahathir anak lelaki Iskandar Kutty”, Dr Mahathir replied: " Rotfl Surprise-440 Open-mouthed_smile

Earlier, Dr Mahathir confirmed Zahid did not directly use his name "Mahathir Mohamad” when making the remark "Mahathir anak lelaki Iskandar Kutty”, but said this is how politicians typically behave by not directly naming individuals in order to "save themselves from getting sued”.

But Dr Mahathir argued that Zahid was clearly referring to him. He asserted that the public had believed Zahid’s "Kutty” remark and criticised him for allegedly lying about his actual name.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 — The government is withholding approval for all new development projects in the national capital city until a task force is formed. Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the decision was made after the ground at several places in the city collapsed, including a spot in Masjid India just 50 metres away from the sinkhole that swallowed a 48-year-old tourist from India last Friday and who has yet to be found.

“Yes, for now all approvals for new projects will be placed on hold until we have a task force,” she told reporters this evening after inspecting the site of a collapsed drain along Jalan Pantai Permai, Kampung Kerinchi here. The Kerinchi collapse is said to be due to soil erosion. When asked if Kuala Lumpur is still safe with the growing number of cave-in incidents, Dr Zaliha said it is, apart from Jalan Masjid India which has been closed to the public after the second sinkhole.
