aiya just cut anything rough and durable and glue it to the sole will do. dried up very fast

You can use the glue you bought or Dunlop glue.
You can keep extending shoe life until the top of shoe is spoilt ...if whole.shoe is rubber you can make shoe last almost lifetime.
there is an easier way.
I use it all the time.
clean the bottom properly, then use hotglue to draw checkerbox.
it is better than new slipper in terms of friction.
