JERUSALEM, Oct 19 — Israeli announced death of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, mastermind of the attack on October 7, 2023, after a group of soldiers killed him in a surprise firefight in southern Gaza’s Rafah, a massive blow to the Palestinian militant movement that has waged a war with Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip for more than a year now. According to Israeli military, Sinwar met his end at the hands of a routine patrol on Wednesday.

Soldiers of the 828th Brigade (Bislach) was moving through the city of Rafah when it came across three Palestinian militants. Media said there was no prior intelligence pointing to Sinwar’s presence in the area, he hid in places that our forces have explored over a long period of time,” military spokesman Daniel Hagari said Thurs. The forces identified 3-terrorists who were going from home to home on the run,” Hagari said. Soldiers are chased them, Sinwar split from the other two, the military reported, military said a tank later fired at building where two of the militants hid and at the one where Sinwar took cover, it said.

“Sinwar ran away alone into one of the buildings and our forces scanned the area with a drone,” Hagar I said. Footage released by the military showed Sinwar covered in dust sitting in an armchair staring down a drone as the device entered house devastated by strikes. The grainy footage showed Sinwar alone with one hand severely injured & his head covered in a traditional scarf, throwing a stick at the approaching drone during his final moments.

“We identified him as a terrorist inside a building and we shot into the building and we entered to scan the area. We found him with a gun and 40,000 shekels (RM46,300),” Hagari said

Mahathir served as prime minister for 22 years until 2003. He returned as prime minister in 2018 after leading the opposition coalition to a historic win, but his government collapsed in less than two years due to infighting.

PKR members should not lose their reformist mindset, said its newly minted secretary-general Fuziah Salleh, stressing that it is even more crucial now that the party is leading the federal government. Admitting that some PKR members had different expectations following the 2022 general election, Fuziah (above) spoke of the need to address “perceptions” that have strayed from the party’s principles.

A month after the coalition (now Madani) government took office, all political appointees who were chairpersons and board members in government-linked firms and statutory bodies were sacked. Former Malaysian PM Abdullah Badawi said it best when he advised his people not to rely too much on handouts as their knees would go weak from using crutches for too long. In fact, he went on to say that many of them were now relying on wheelchairs. Mahathir on the other hand, has always had an inferiority complex with regards to the Chinese.  He fears their intellect, drive, propensity for hard work, entrepreneurship etc.  That is why he is aware that his people will become blue collar workers if meritocracy is practiced in Malaysia.  Dr M is afraid that the other races would be far ahead on a level-playing field.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today apologised to Malaysians over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal, saying he is deeply shocked and regretful over what had happened at the Finance Ministry-owned company. Ahead of the High Court’s decision next Wednesday on whether Najib would be acquitted or have to defend himself against 25 charges over 1MDB’s stolen RM2.27 billion funds, Najib said he should not be made a victim or be held legally responsible over 1MDB.

Najib’s son, Datuk Mohamad Nizar Najib, today read out a press statement in which the former finance minister claimed to be innocent to not have worked together with Malaysian fugitive Low Taek Jho to defraud 1MDB of its money. “I have already been punished politically but as I am clearly not the mastermind and neither did I collaborate with Jho Low as recent events have shown, I should not be victimised legally too.

“I'm still in deep shock knowing the extent of the wretched & unconscionable shenanigans & illegal things happened 1MDB,” Nizar said at conference at KL court complex that streamed live online when reading out statement on behalf of Najib.

Najib today cited unspecified court proceedings as allegedly showing that the Saudi govt did make two “large donations” in 2010, claimed those were not subject to any criminal proceedings or civil proceedings in court. Looking back to past, Najib today said in hindsight he “should have acted differently” when various parties began question what was happening at 1MDB.

Way back in 2002, then PM Mahathir said the Malays remained weak and backward after 30 years of preferential treatment and told them to learn from the hardworking and intelligent Chinese; he praised the very people he so hated and was jealous as well as afraid of. Mahathir, who was in his 21st year in office, warned that Malays were "far from being safe" and would not survive if privileges under the New Economic Policy were withdrawn. "The Malays are still weak, the poorest people and are backward," Mahathir said. He knew that without the NEP, the Malays would fill up all the blue collar jobs in the country while the Chinese would be the bosses.

I’m A M’sian Malay Who Studied At A Chinese School & Now Teaches Mandarin To Others
"We're one big family, and learning other languages pulls us closer together."

In Malaysia, one of the country’s unique aspects is its citizens’ ability to speak multiple languages such as Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, and various dialects.

However, there are only a handful of Malaysians who have taken an interest to not only learn a language that isn’t their mother tongue, but teach it to others as well.
