Beijing proposes "two-state solution" - theold - 10-10-2023

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the fundamental way to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict lies in the implementation of the "two-state solution" to establish an independent Palestinian state and promote the early resumption of negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

This solution is not new. It has been brought up several times in UN. Never happened due to Israel's and USA's objections (165 for, 6 abstentions and 6 objections).

If Saudi Arabia warmed ties with Israel successfully (brokered by USA), this solution would most probably be dead. It's one major reason why Hamas has to act as the clock is ticking.

What is alternative to 2 state solution?

1 state solution? One state solution means all the Palestinans are citizens...there will be more Palestinans than jews in the one state

That could be a 'solution' but given the way the Palestinians are treated in Israel, that is a very cruel act.

One solution is that the Palestinian Islamic group move out of Gaza and migrate to Iran, then there will be peace

Despite all the drama that is happening now, the chances of the two state solution is gradually increasing.

The only impediment to this approach has always been US assertiveness which emboldens the Israelis to think they can get away with the current approach of not recognizing, not assimilating and just going for unofficial land expansion.

US influence in the Middle East is depleting very rapidly - lost Iraq, lost Egypt, failure to put down Iran and Syria, wobbling with Saudi and Gulf Council Nations . They tried to reverse the decline by brokering Israel to reconcile with Saudi, probably promised a lot of goodies to both countries in the process as well.

Unfortunately for the US, Palestine and all the other Middle East countries are not pushovers. They aren’t going to watch the “betrayal of Palestine” just so for the US to claw back some lost influence in the region, hence the start of the drama now.

With things now, any Saudi-Israel reconciliation is in the bin for the foreseeable future and the US explicitly supporting Israel will inadvertently bring her into conflict with all other Middle East Muslim countries.

Regardless of the outcome of the war, whatever visages of influence the US has in this region will be further expunged. Going forward, US will be left with only Israel in the entire region. This is very bad for them in their global contest for supremacy with China.

This is yet another nail into the coffin of US geopolitics and combined with no signs of them resolving any of their own critical domestic issues, the level of support they can provide to Israel will taper over the mid to long term. The Israelis will eventually then have no choice but to accept and start serious negotiations on the two state solution.

If Israel insists on taking on the world (basically by violating all applicable UN resolutions) without adequate US support, then she will be going down the path of the ancient Kingdom of Israel and the middle ages Kingdom of Jerusalem - that of oblivion.

I don't know anyone one can read the sign on the Wall...the era of US-lead "Rule-based Order" is coming to an end...very quickly.

And it all began not so long ago from 9/11 that lead America to start or participate directly or indirectly in wars from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan to Libya and attempted with playing the same game in Korea and at the Taiwan straits using Ukraine as a template for Washington's "Forever War"...

If I am an Israeli, I would seriously look at alternative options other than being America's "friend"...

Anyone look into the details of the two state solution? If two state, is Palestine allow to have their own army, navy, airforce, police, civil defence, border customs etc etc? Or it is a kind of restricted form of two state?

This was based on a proposal agreed and sign by both Israel and Palestine gov in 1993.

This includes partitioning of the territory between Jewish and Palestinian based on the 1947 at the UN assembly.

Hence 2-State Solution.

Still never answer my earlier question if Palestine will have their own army, navy, airforce, police, civil defence, border customs etc. Also that Jerusalem district will be managed by which parties based on the proposed 2 state map?

Most likely they will not be allowed to have their own military. Israel will not allow the possibility of invasion in the future.

That means the 2 state is a restricted form of solution benefiting more to Israel isn't it? What about the Jerusalem district who will be managing it? If military is not allowed for Palestine then most likely Israel will be managing it logical? So while the 2 state solution is a solution it tend to lean a bit to Israel benefit after all beggars can't be chooser for Palestine in this case? No wonder Hamas reject the 2 state solution becuz by accepting it you are still the "loser" so as to speak.

RE: Beijing proposes "two-state solution" - Ola - 10-10-2023

It will not work because Hamas

is fighting for the Al- aqsa mosque

which is also the same holy land used by Israel 1440 BC

I think the mosque is just one of the trigger point. The whole intention is to take over the lands that Jerusalem sit on or even bolder the expel of Israel (Jews) out of Israel. The Crusades wars did that and capture of Jerusalem before it was later taken back again. So Jerusalem is some sort of prized assets for both sides.

Not according to Oslo agreement - Palestinian security only has police which is to work with the IDF.

So basically Israel has better bargain in the 1993 deal...So you can imagine how both sides feel.

Jerusalem also no difference - it is already divided. Try a virtual walk in the city's street comparing the Palestinian and Jewish partitions. ...

Two-state solution has several versions based on the link I put in my post earlier. I think they never agreed on which one is the final solution (or which one to be based on and then worked on from there). Most of the discussions were centred on territory.

Differences are very difficult to settle. The place is holy to the three religions so each won't give way. So I always question "god's intention" to make this land special. It's almost like how a parent decides to bequeath a house to his children. You give the house to any one child will incur unhappiness of the others. Yet he doesn't allow the house to be sold cos it's ancestral asset.
