Last time is fast foods expensive
Hawker foods is cheap as it cater for the mass now the opposite….
I bought western foods just now the price I can buy MCD set meal got drinks somemore now they promote at 6.50 cent my western foods cost 7+

There are now more and more “restaurant” like food stalls in hawker centres. These usually have very chic and modern stall fronts manned by youngsters serving either non-local foods or local fusion with a twist.
They price themselves 20-25% cheaper than a café / restaurant, but this makes them much more expensive than normal hawker stalls. A good example would be like the Simpang Bedok Hawker Centre or the even more expensive ones like Timbre at Ayer Rajah.
A meal in these hawker centres can easily burn $20 per pax including food & drink.

Yes, if you are patronizing these modern "hawkerprenuers" then chances are it's gonna be more expensive than Mac, BK or KFC. Even the stalls run by youngsters selling normal local food often price themselves similar to fast food restaurants because they are inexperienced and grossly overbidded for their stalls.
The only real cheap hawker stalls now are those run by old people or their descendants who are still under the old concessionary rents.

the last sentence is not say true for " some " . Now some real cheap hawker stalls mark up price like no body business like food court price.
if you ask them why expensive they surely say " ingredients price increase, inflation, rent also increase " ...same old reply...
worst some ride on GST hike....
