I'm gradually replacing appliances to midea and Xiaomi. So far so good and cheaper, and no complaint

Midea is the better brand. The newer models are easy to clean and more advanced than other brands on the market. Always change the complete pipes.

With the degree shown there, it is helpful but not sure if it will last long.Ā

It is helpfulĀ because now there is 1 remote for all types of aircon brands, no longer a need to set the code. However, this type of remote doesn't show the degree on the remote control.

I just replaced my old Mitsubishi Aircondition which is still working after 25 years in service.Ā  I replaced this unit because of the older model which had a higher electricity consumption.Ā  It was an easy choice between Midea and Mitsubishi. I don't fancy any remote controls as I used my handphone to control air-conditioners, making sure the energy usage is maximised.

ChinaĀ  phone okay because every 2-5 yrs replaced.

But aircon is a long term thing...15-20yrs. A cheaper one may look like a good idea but after 7yrs breakdown you are worse off. Still better to play safe with Mitsubishi,Ā  Daikin...etc

Prism, Midea just give it a miss.Ā

That's just my view.

Why he pronounced Midea as "Mee Deer"? Correct pronunciation is "My Dear".

Aircon repair man explains his experience with various aircon brands including Midea.

Remember aircon has many parts and mechanical parts tye quality takes time to improve because so many components involved and the company has to track long term performance.

It's not like you buy ..turn on working for next 1-2 yrs means okay. We are talking 15-20yrs life cycle.

For Daikin, sometimes you need to change the black box sensor or parts and sometimes remove the part linking to the louvre. The latter is to remove the sound of the roller which will still be there but at a slightly lower sound. The good thing is the parts are easily available outside. It is more of an established brand in the market.

The market now is either Midea or Mitsubishi. These two brands keep updating to the consumersā€™ requirements.

Some still prefer a separate wall switch for each aircon.

Last time came across Sanyo, Toshiba... Sanyo or Fujitsu used to use a Mitsubishi motor. Toshiba has a lower cost than Mitsubishi with similar components except for the difference in dismantling. Mitsubishi has more advertisements.

From wall plug to wall remote and then to wireless remote.

In life, it is whether the manufacturer wishes to make it easier for consumers to change the parts or not. Some remote sensors just need to be cleaned or the short wire changed. Some repairmen were just lazy or didnā€™t know. They prefer to change the parts and collect the money. Some have 2 sides A and B sensors. Sometimes, I just spray contact cleaner and it does the trick. It is mainly about the accumulation of sticky dirt or rust.
