I really don't understand where this "grand strategy" that Trump supporters constantly speak of is coming from.
I mean he talks a big game about whacking others and then caves in less than 24 hours when others retaliate without getting anything significant in return. Canada and Mexico are disproportionately weak compared to the US and even then Trump can't seem to carry through his threats for more than a day.
How on earth is he going to take on "Chyna" like that? And this debacle does nothing more than scare US allies even further. If he cannot even demonstrate overwhelming US superiority over Canada, how are are the Europeans gonna trust him to take on Russia or even worse, the Japanese on his ability to take on Chyna?
What exactly is the whole point of this theatre? I don't see how it benefits either US or Trump on a personal level...

Panama’s President Jose Raul Mulino has announced China’s Belt and Road Initiative will not be renewed by his government.
Started by China in 2013, the initiative saw Beijing funding infrastructure projects in various countries
Panama joined the initiative in 2017 under a previous government.
Many have welcomed the Panamanian President's decision to end the partnership with China.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for President Mulino to reduce Chinese influence over the Panama Canal or face potential retaliation from the Trump administration

Trumpians despise soft power because it’s a waste of money and resources. They prefer hard power as it gets things done. And it Makes America Great Again.

They can prefer whatever hardness they want, problem is Trump and the US are not in a position to deliver. The US talks about grabbing lands all over the world in an off hand manner daily, but when it comes to actually getting anything done the guy back pedals even on a relatively simple matter like tariffs on 2 weak nations.
America under Trump and Elon Musk is fast becoming a bigger version of Iran and North Korea, their leader and compliant media thrash talk everyday about how they are going to destroy this destroy that, but at the end of the day you don't actually see anything of substance.
I don't see where this "grand strategy" that Trump supporters keep alluding to is coming from - all I see is an America that is backsliding into the likes of Russia, Iran and North Korea i.e. a bunch of weaklings trying to convince everyone they matter everyday.
