"The Economist's Banyan column on 27 July 2023, "A slew of scandals puts Singapore's government on the back foot", makes a serious charge: that the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), because it reports to the Prime Minister, who appoints its head, cannot be independent. This misrepresents the process.28 July 2023"

"Singapore’s envoy to Britain has refuted a “serious charge” made in an article in The Economist that the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) cannot be independent because it reports to the prime minister.

The British magazine, in its issue published on Thursday, ran an article titled A Slew Of Scandals Puts Singapore’s Government On The Back Foot.

The article touched on the ongoing CPIB probe into Transport Minister S. Iswaran, and argued that the anti-graft agency could not be fully independent, as it reported to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong."

"Who does the National Anti-Corruption Commission report to?

the Parliament. The Inspector will provide relevant information and documents to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Committee), and will report to the Parliament. An annual report will be prepared by the Inspector which will be tabled in Parliament, and publicly available."

The Govt has arranged a VIP Room for Iswaran tells me little about how they can act on equality.

Aiyah! PAP is saying that Iswaran has lesser crimes

If opposition do the same, already in the big cage with many criminals, lah.

Why do we need 5 Mayors and 80 PAP Ministers?

A crime is a crime whether it's big or small..

The difference with Iswaran is he's a seasoned Minister and he knows jolly well that's wrong.

The SG govt denies that the Judiciary is not independent and the only marsupials seen around the High Court were wallabies. LOL!

Iswaran knew full well that what he did was dishonest, since he tried to obstruct justice by covering his tracks.

Would Australia's Olympic break dancer Rachel Gunn be charged for her kangaroo impression if done outside a SG court house?

Oh come on! Just convicting Iswaran will  not undo the list of past cosmetic paints seen on the news.
