Final push: Tomorrow is Election Day. Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are delivering their contrasting last pitches to voters in key battleground states that could determine who wins the presidency.

(CNN)As of two days before Election Day, more than 75.1 million Americans have already cast their ballots in the November election, either by mail or through early in-person voting, getting a head start on shaping the presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.

• Closing messages: Trump has invoked dark rhetoric in his final days on the campaign trail, saying that he “shouldn’t have left” the White House after he lost the 2020 election. Harris, meanwhile, has tried to reach out to Michigan’s significant Arab American community by pledging to do everything in her power to end the war in Gaza if elected.

• Today’s events: Harris will spend her final day of campaigning in Pennsylvania, with rallies in Allentown, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. Trump will be in three battleground states today, holding events in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Final NBC News poll: Harris-Trump race is neck and neck, with significant gender gap. Abortion and rising Democratic enthusiasm boost Harris, while the economy and the cost of living lift Trump ahead of an uncertain election. The final national NBC News poll of the 2024 presidential campaign finds a neck and neck contest defined by clashing forces that have aided both Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump in their pursuit of the White House. Taken together, the poll shows Harris getting support from 49% of registered voters in a head-to-head matchup, while Trump gets an identical 49%. Just 2% of voters say they’re unsure about the choice.

Lawrence Wong: “Greetings. From the first day I became Prime Minister, I wanted to improve the tax system. We will not fully get rid of taxes of course, but any resident will be able to receive dividends from them. Now taxpayers' money will work for the benefit of our citizens, and everyone can decide for themselves what to spend it on”.

Interviewer: “Do I understand correctly that in fact this is compensation from the state?”.

Together with his co-conspirator, Jeandiel Serrano, so!, they allegedly stole over 4,100 bitcoin – worth about US$230 million at the time – from victim in Washington scam described as (“one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts) from a private individual in history in US”) (lucky not happening in S'pore).

Prosecutors On Wed (Oct 23) S'pore time said Serrano appeared in court for a status hearing. Court heard both the prosecution & defence were “seeking has a resolution of this matter short of a trial”, court records showed.

They requested about 60 days to continue plea negotiations, will inform court if a deal is reached before the deadline. Court filings unsealed earlier this month detailed how Lam & Serrano allegedly carried out scam, how they spent money. (THE THEFT) Lam and his co-conspirator Serrano, 21, from Los Angeles (LA), targeted their victim b'cos they identified him as a “high-net- Thinking worth investor” from early days cryptocurrency. According to court doc, substantial planning went into scam, with a co-conspirator causing “unauthorised Google account access” notifications to be sent to victim in day & week leading up to the theft.

This person used proxy virtual private network (VPN) services to make it appear as if the access attempts were coming from overseas – this laid down the groundwork for the theft through “sophisticated social engineering”. The court heard on Aug 18, Lam & accomplice called victim, pretending to be Google support team members. They there had been a hack attempt on his account & they needed to shut it down.

Lam found Gemini cryptocurrency exchange records in the victim’s Google accounts. OMG.

In response to President-elect Donald Trump’s threats to isolate Chinese goods from the U.S. market, China is reportedly seeking to engage U.S. allies in Europe and Asia to mitigate the potential impact on its economy.

What Happened: Trump’s campaign promise to impose tariffs of up to 60% on Chinese imports poses a significant threat to Xi Jinping‘s economic model, which is heavily reliant on manufacturing and exports, reported The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.

To counter this, the Chinese leadership is reportedly considering offering tariff cuts, visa exemptions, and other incentives to U.S. allies in Europe and Asia. This strategy, termed “unilateral opening,” represents a shift from China’s traditional quid-pro-quo approach to economic and diplomatic deals.

TikTok’s popularity persists in the face of a potential U.S. ban for continuing to refuse to sell itself to a non-Chinese owner by Jan. 19. U.S. warned ByteDance it is a potential national-security risk that China had the potential to access American users’ data. Zhang stepped down as ByteDance CEO in 2021, but still owns about 20% of the company. TikTok isn’t the only Chinese behemoth under threat. Total wealth measured on Hurun China Rich List this year amounted to $3 trillion, a 10% dip from last year. Number of billionaires on list, measured in U.S. dollars, dropped from 1,185 in 2021 to 753 this year amid mounting fears of slowing long-term growth of China’s economy.

Zhang’s big break: He spent his college years in Tianjin’s Nankai University in Tianjin, building websites & fixing students’ computers as a way to earn extra cash. His jobs also building a search engine for airfare tickets & microblogging platform, he joined Microsoft & held for only six months before his big break. Worth 225 billion.

During my time at Microsoft, I basically read books for half a day and worked for half a day,” Zhang said in a 2014 interview with Caishi Media’s Super Talk, which was translated from Chinese to English. “There were not many challenging things to do. Most of the time, I was quite idle.”

Zhang founded ByteDance in 2012 in 4-bedroom Beijing apartment, & by 2014, company’s news aggregator Toutiao had 220 million users, including 20 million daily users. 2 years after, ByteDance introduced TikTok, which became a worldwide hit during the pandemic. The video-streaming app had over 3 billion downloads by 2022, according to DemandSage.

By then, when Zhang stepped down as ByteDance’s CEO in 2021, he was receiving pressure from Beijing, which was tightening its hold on its tech sector, anxious that industry had amassed too much power or influence from its growing cadre of billionaire elites.

ByteDance’s uncertain future in the U.S. appears to mirror China’s apprehension. In a 2017 interview translated into English, Zhang seemed prescient about the risk of expanding his fledgling TikTok into a global tech brand.

“If [and] when Chinese companies go overseas, they can overcome cultural problems,” he said. “Will the overseas market be huge? I am both optimistic and pessimistic about this.”

Pathway to S'pore’s solar development
Singapore could import large quantities of low-cost solar power from neighbouring countries using undersea cables, with the indicative cost being competitive with gas generation. Unlimited world-class pumped hydro energy storage is available in neighbouring countries in the range 50-5000 GWh to support very large scale transmission. November 11, 2024

Singapore gives conditional nod to import solar power from Australia via 4,300km of subsea cables. As part of US$24 billion (S$31.6 billion) project, Australian solar project developer Sun Cable will build a massive solar farm in the southern region of Darwin, the state capital city of Australia’s Northern Territory. Electricity generated will be transmitted to Singapore via 4,300km of subsea cables.

How Plasma Powers the Engine

Plasma, Tongue the fourth state of matter, consists of charged particles like ions and electrons. Found naturally in the sun and lightning, it can also be generated in controlled environments. Tang's engine harnesses this state of matter through a sophisticated process involving air compression and microwave technology. Big Grin

1) Air Compression: The system starts by drawing in atmospheric air, which is then compressed to high pressures using a turbine compressor. This compressed air provides the necessary density for effective plasma generation.

2) Microwave Ionization Chamber: The compressed air flows into a quartz tube fitted with a microwave ionization chamber. Microwaves, operating at 2.45 GHz—the same frequency used in microwave ovens—are directed into this chamber.

3) Ionization: Inside the chamber, the high-frequency microwaves excite the air molecules, stripping electrons from the atoms and creating a plasma state. The resulting plasma reaches temperatures exceeding several thousand degrees Celsius.

4) Jet Thrust Generation: The high-temperature plasma rapidly expands as it exits the ionization chamber. This expansion produces a jet thrust capable of lifting a 1-kilogram steel ball, demonstrating thrust comparable to conventional jet engines.

Tongue Tongue We all Singaporean can learn from:...here.

And from here  Big Grin Tongue The Road to Scalable Plasma Jets their prototype is promising, scaling it to power large aircraft presents unique challenges. Current design requires megawatt-level microwave sources & advanced energy storage systems capable of delivering continuous high power. Clapping

Tang’s approach differs from.... Clapping
Other plasma propulsion systems, such as those used by NASA. For example (EG), NASA’s xenon-based plasma thrusters, like those on the Dawn spacecraft, work well in the vacuum of space but are ineffective in Earth’s atmosphere due to their low thrust output. Tang’s design overcomes this limitation by using atmospheric air, making it feasible for terrestrial and airborne applications.., Big Grin
