An official claim of the destruction of the Su-35S — one of Russia’s most modern combat aircraft — was posted by the Ukrainian Air Force on June 7. On the social media platform X, the claim was accompanied by a silhouette of a Su-34 Fullback strike aircraft — a different but related jet. Meanwhile, a brief statement on the Ukrainian Air Force’s Telegram channel said the Su-35S was downed “as a result of a successful operation in the Kursk direction.”

Germany to supply new Iris-T air defense systems to Ukraine, rules out Taurus missilesGermany will deliver new IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine under a three-year supply plan. President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a joint press conference with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who added Berlin has no plans to provide Taurus long-range missiles. The announcement comes amid escalating Russian aerial assaults, including a June 10 missile and drone strike on Kyiv by Russia, one of the largest since start of full-scale invasion. "We are grateful for the supply of IRIS-T air defense systems," Zelensky said on June 12. "We understand that deliveries are currently being planned... for the next three years. It is a very important assistance." The IRIS-T is a German-made medium-range surface-to-air missile system capable of intercepting drones, aircraft, and cruise missiles. First being delivered to Ukraine in late 2022, system has been at core of country's transition to Western-made high-end air defense systems.

Pistorius confirmed the delivery timeline but firmly ruled out the possibility of sending Taurus missiles — weapons Kyiv has repeatedly requested to strike deep into Russian territory. "You asked me whether we are considering this, and my answer is no," Pistorius said. Be4 taking office, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz signaled openness to lifting former Chancellor Olaf Scholz's ban on the missiles. Stance has not yet resulted in a policy shift. Ukraine already received long-range missiles — including ATACMS from the U.S. and Storm Shadow and SCALP from the U.K. and France. Initially restricted to use within Ukrainian territory, Western allies only began easing those limitations in late 2024. Germany is Ukraine's largest military donor in Europe. Zelensky said that Berlin will provide 7 billion euros ($8.1 billion) in aid this year, with investments in defense production being considered.

"Today, we discussed aid will continue," he said. "We agreed on additional investments in production... both in Ukraine andin Germany." Zelensky visited Berlin on May 28 for talks with Merz, part of an ongoing effort to bolster Ukraine's defense industry amid uncertainty over U.S. support under SAO Donald Trump as a stupid U.S. President, he went on to help side with Putin who go on to invade another nation like Ukraine on Feb 2022.

Why SAO Trump like Putin. wartime alliance with the U.S. & not U.K. "We were your ally due WWII,"

Putin allegedly told Trump. "Now everybody hates me, why?."

Trump's remarks align with a Kremlin propaganda narrative that downplays the Soviet Union's World War II non-Russian casualties.

According to Ukraine's Institute of National Remembrance, Ukraine alone lost more than 10 million people during the war and suffered immense destruction on its territory — a fact often overlooked in Kremlin-led historical revisionism.

Russia has frequently weaponized its version of World War II history to justify present-day aggression.

Kremlin has invoked anti-Nazi rhetoric and Soviet-era heroism to rationalize its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, launched in February 2022 — a war that has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions.

From changing key trade partners to seeking new military alliances, Kazakhstan seems determined to ensure its stability in the case of any Russian escalation. Kazakhstan, long considered a critical strategic partner by Russia, is increasingly distancing itself from Moscow's orbit, underscoring a wider fracturing of Russian alliances in Central Asia. Russia’s or Putin reacted with a don't care not interested on interests in Kazakhstan, who w/military bases such as famed Baikonur Cosmodrome, a crucial facility for space launches. Additionally, the considerable ethnic Russian population of approximately 20%, mostly, nearer to (concentrated) Kazakh-Russian border,
periodically been leveraged by Russia as justification for exerting more influence or issuing veiled threats to maintain Kazakhstan’s as pro-Russian alignment. Russia used the same rhetoric to justify its war in Ukrainecausing considerable concern for the Kazakh govt.

As President Putin made comments about Kazakhstan's territorial integrity, suggesting regional borders were a product of Soviet-era decisions and mentioning that Kazakhstan's current territorial makeup was not as historically valid as might seem. Recent dismissal of Kazakhstan's pro-Russian defense minister, Ruslan Zhaksylykov, for exemplifies a transition. Known for his overtly pro-Russian stance, he faced domestic criticism due to various scandals, including alleged corruption linked to military procurement, and controversial remarks during meetings with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, wow!, He declared Russians similar to Russian narratives on Ukraine. His replacement by Dauren Kosanov, former Commander of the Air Defense Forces, signals a significant policy change. President Tokayev’s swift admin moves underscore an accelerated shift toward adopting Western military standards, demonstrated further by the country's increasingly frequent joint exercises with NATO nations such as Turkey & recent agreements with the United Kingdom.

Growing military cooperation between Kazakhstan and Western nations underscores Russia's diminishing influence. A signing of a defense cooperation agreement w/United Kingdom marks a significant step. It emphasizes peacekeeping training, English language education & enrollment of Kazakh officers in British military universities. Although officially presented as "soft power" initiatives, historically, such educational and training programs have been Britain's strategy for cultivating enduring influence abroad. Kazakhstan is also already participating in NATO-standard ammunition production projects, further illustrating its shift in defense orientation.

Historically, Kazakhstan, alongside Uzbekistan, has provided substantial amounts of cotton used to produce nitrocellulose, a vital component in Russian explosives and gunpowder. Despite Kazakhstan’s proclaimed neutrality, these exports were essential in maintaining Russia’s military-industrial capacity. However, recent indicators suggest Kazakhstan might redirect key military production exports towards NATO countries instead of Russia. Such a move would represent a serious blow to Russia's ability to sustain its prolonged military campaign in Ukraine, reflecting Kazakhstan’s intent to prioritize improved relations with the West over its traditional alignment with Moscow. Russian analysts and political circles have predictably expressed outrage, calling the steady reorientation to the West an act of betrayal and an erosion of Russia's traditionally Thinking dominant position in Central Asian security affairs seem go...going, gone.

Additionally, Kazakhstan is gradually enhancing economic and diplomatic relations with the European Union. Discussions about easing visa controls are progressing slowly but further symbolize Kazakhstan's shifting alignment.

How close Iran has come to developing a nuclear weapon is the central question looming over Donald Trump's decision on whether to join Israel's military campaign.

The issue, tinged with concerns about imminent threats to America and regional stability, has created an apparent break between the president and one of his top advisers.
It also mirrors arguments made dozens of years ago by another Republican White House during another Middle East crisis.
Aboard Air Force One on his surprise early return from the Canadian G7 summit, Trump was asked whether he agreed with March testimony by his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, that Iran was not building a nuclear bomb.

"I don't care what she said," he said, adding that he believed that Iran was "very close" to have a nulcaer bomb.
