Obviously you have not done programming for a living. The tech change so fast what you use or learn to use will be obsolete in 5 years time. To do the same you need to keep updating and that is tiring. Fixing bugs, enhance on programs left behind by previous predecessor is no joke. My entire career is 90% doing maintenance aka clear up shit ppl left behind. In-house role is what I am as it is cheaper for employer to engage than outsourced to external company to maintain

Google also hired some fresh graduates recently. If you don't hear many Ceca there being retrenched, that means the axe could have fallen on those local graduates.

So simple, many come from Uptron or similar kinds of so called certification.
Worst part of all, the whole kampong also come along, something like package deal.
When it reach saturation point, this is what many of these companies will do.
Let see how many more ceca can sg continue to import..?

This is Indeed true. At the beginning, educated locals like you or me still form the majority or half the company to stabilise the business. With so many of them now in the company with poor skills, it definitely cannot sustain.

My colleague’s son works in Google. They have many contract workers and are first to go in such exercise. I doubt this group who are terminated are considered Retrenchment.
