To be frank, the sign was intended to mislead. I also read as No Pork No Lard although it wasnt spelt that way. It's how our minds are trained to read Big Grin

No pork does not mean it is halal...........chicken that are slaughtered must be done by a halal certified person, else it cannot have a halal certificate...... Big Grin

MUIS requirement damn strict and certification very expensive for small stall thats why common to see "muslim owned" " no pork no lard" anyways perankan is mix of chinese and malay cuisine how to be halal one

Nowadays, people tend to mix pork with beef. The reason is that pork is cheaper than beef.

Food vendors who sell Peranakan food and who have a menu of pork cannot be certified as Halal, cos the utensils used cannot be mixed with those which cooks pork dishes.......... Big Grin
