Kyiv expects to get up to 20 F-16s in 2024, Bloomberg reports. Ukraine expects to receive the first six F-16 fighter jets this summer and up to 20 of them by the end of 2024, Bloomberg reported on July 12, citing undisclosed sources in NATO.
During this year's NATO summit, held on July 9-11 in Washington, the U.S., Denmark, and the Netherlands announced that the first F-16 fighter jets were "on their way" to Ukraine.

NATO is yet concerned about logistical difficulties in maintaining these aircraft and the lack of suitable runways in Ukraine, according to Bloomberg. "The challenges have been so severe that they've raised doubts about the wisdom of sending the jets to Ukraine and whether doing so now amounts to a very costly show of support to President Volodymyr Zelensky."

CNN reported that the intelligence about the Iranian plot was passed on by a human source.
"These threats arise from Iran’s desire to seek revenge for the killing of Qassem Soleimani. We consider this a national and homeland security matter of the highest priority," she said.

A US official said that on learning of the increased threat, the National Security Council contacted the Secret Service, which added resources and assets for Trump's protection.
“As we have said many times, we have been tracking Iranian threats against former Trump administration officials for years, dating back to the last administration," said Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the White House National Security Council.

From the perspective of Islamic Republic of Iran, Trump is a criminal who must be prosecuted and punished in a court of law for ordering the assassination of General Soleimani. Iran has chosen the legal path to bring him to justice," Iran's statement said. A statement to Reuters, Iran's mission to UN in New York said "these accusations are unsubstantiated & malicious".

On 20 July. The enemy has managed to quickly turn the tide of the battle for Prohres over past 48 hours. Fighting on outskirts of the village broke out in the last days of April, and in fact, for the previous three months, we have been relatively successful in repelling enemy attacks, though there have been occasional losses of positions.
A strip consisting of the village itself was held by one of the [Ukrainian] infantry brigades. When the enemy launched a large-scale assault on 19 July, almost entire village was abandoned. Immediate help was brought in from another mechanised brigade stationed on western street of the village. Lacking sufficient infantry, [Ukrainian] forces had to retreat on 20 July – this time, behind the village.

This is forcing the other brigade, positioned along the railway, to expand its positions to the flank. In addition, the risk of encirclement exists. There is no order to align the [front] line. The enemy's further advance has two simultaneous goals. The first is to approach or cut the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka road. In addition, there is high ground of 229.0 metres to the west of Vozdvyzhenka. The 2nd is move along ridge along which railway runs with further access to high ground at 224.8 metres and Novohrodivka."
