Russia pulls 60,000 troops to counter Kursk incursion, Zelensky claims. Has pulled over 60,000 troops to Kursk Oblast to face Ukraine's ongoing incursion as of early September, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with NBC News published on Sept. 3.
"The idea and one of the goals of the Kursk Oblast (operation) was diverting Russian troops... to their territory," Zelensky said.. Today, I can say that they pulled over 60,000 troops there." This is a considerable growth from a figure previously presented by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, who said in late August that Russia diverted 30,000 troops to the area.
Allegedly seizing around a hundred Russian settlements and almost 1,300 square kilometers (500 square miles) of territory. Advance seems to have slowed down in comparison to operation's in early days. News Feed, Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, Kursk incursion, Kursk Oblast, War

What red line?. Russia’s and NATO’s ‘red lines’ in Ukraine shifting?....Ukraine wants more Western weapons attacks on Russian territory.
Moscow and NATO have so-called red lines that, if breached, could potentially trigger an outright war between them.?.
The conflict in Ukraine now involves many countries as Kyiv uses Western weapons in Russian territory. Yes...more and more fighting & killing confirm. So are these red lines shifting? (Is been broken a few time and is there a greater risk of a wider war?...what wider war?. Comfirm Ukraine will size more land in Russia Federation and Putin still will try to kill more folks, even world war not this year lehh.

Russian troops continue intensified their offensive operations in vicinity of Vuhledar (Donetsk Oblast) & achieved minor tactical success by doing so, Russians try to increase pressure on Ukrainian military & create conditions for further successes on Pokrovsk.
Source: Institute for the Study of War (ISW)
Details: Recently, Russian forces escalated their longstanding offensive operations aimed at eliminating broad Ukrainian salient positioned to the west and south-west of Donetsk, & advancing towards along the H-15 road (connecting Donetsk and the city of Zaporizhzhia).
On 4 Sept, a Ukrainian airborne brigade operating south-west of Donetsk released video footage showing Ukrainian forces successfully repelling a reinforced Russian mechanised assault, consisting of four tanks and 17 armoured vehicles, near Kostiantynivka. As Russian military leadership remains focused on the offensive against Pokrovsk, likely in the regardless of the outcome of secondary efforts, probably intended to fix Ukrainian forces in western part of Donetsk & prevent them from being redeployed to strengthen the defence of Pokrovsk. Russian forces are unlikely to maintain their momentum on Ukraine’s east for an extended period. The repeated surges in offensive op in Donetsk Oblast, coupled with ongoing pressure caused by Ukraine's op in Kursk Oblast, are likely to force Russian offensive to culminate sooner than its military command expects.
Apparently coordinated Russian offensive op from southern flank of Pokrovsk front western flank of the Ukrainian defence around Vuhledar likely aim to increase pressure on Ukrainian forces defending conditions for further trying gains by Russia's prioritised offensive effort on Pokrovsk front. Russian forces trying intensified offensive op elsewhere southwest and west of city of Donetsk & intensification of Russian offensive op near Vuhledar likely does not presage decreased their offensive tempo elsewhere in western Donetsk in the near-term.
Russian forces intensified offensive operations near Vuhledar shortly after starting to widen the southern flank of Pokrovsk salient, suggesting Russian forces is trying to conduct mutually reinforcing offensive op along southern flank of the Pokrovsk front.

A source in the SBU told AFP that Kyiv was targeting "military airfields, ammunition depots and infrastructure facilities" in order to "create a demilitarised zone in the regions of Russia adjacent to Ukraine".
It called them all "legitimate targets". A large fire and several explosions were reported overnight in the Russian region of Voronezh,
which borders Ukraine, prompting officials to evacuate locals living near the blaze. Russian anti-air defence systems "detected and neutralised a drone" early on Saturday morning over the western part of the region, under 150km from Ukraine, Voronezh

There, and in other parts of Ukraine occupied by Russia since the full-scale invasion in 2022, a key part of Russia’s narrative has been to erase places’ Ukrainian history and insist that they are all “historical Russian land”.
Now the reverse is happening in the small corner of Kursk region currently controlled by Kyiv. He told his listeners @length on Sudzha’s historically Ukrainian roots, expounding on role played in its founding by Ukrainian Cossack leader Herasim Kondratiev, stressing in early 20th century, 61% of Sudzha’s residents spoke Ukrainian. An enthusiastic tour guide & now a historian, Murza loves to talk: ask him a question about what’s happening today and he’ll launch into a long answer about this 17th century, using maps to back up his points, for him, this discourse is not so much about staking a modern-day Ukrainian claim to Sudzha as about showing up Russian claims to parts of Ukraine as absurd hypocritical.

Mongolia, a country sandwiched between Russia and China, has failed to comply with an international arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin during his official visit. The country’s government attributes the move to energy dependence, which effectively prevents Mongolia from complying with its obligations to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Dependence on energy resources
Mongolia imports 95% of its petroleum products and more than 20% of its electricity from Russia and China, according to a statement from a Mongolian government spokesman provided to POLITICO on Tuesday. This critical interdependence means that any radical action against one of its neighbors can have serious consequences for a country’s economy and the well-being of its citizens. In such a situation, Putin’s arrest could provoke a serious crisis in Mongolia.
“Mongolia has always followed a policy of neutrality in its diplomatic relations,” the government spokesman said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a balance in relations with Russia and China.

Some peculiarities of assistance from Canada for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Media said Canada is planning to supply Ukraine 80,840 CRV-7 rocket engines & 1,300 warheads next few mths, addition to 2,160 CRV-7 rocket engines that had been already delivered to Ukraine. Dept of National Defense of Canada plans to transfer 970 units of machine guns under C6 designation & 10,500 9mm pistols, also a number of decommissioned armored vehicles, 29 units of M113 armored personnel carriers & 64 Coyote LAV infantry fighting vehicles.
Canada is ready to allocate $389 million, over the next 5 years to train Ukrainian pilots to use the F-16 aircraft, assumed contractors fm Top Aces pte military company, owns own fleet "demilitarized" F-16, could be involved in training, In case, Royal Canadian Air Force does not have its own F-16s, it is unlikely this country will limit itself to simply financing the necessary needs for training of Ukrainian pilots.

Ukraine Needs Both More Weapons and the Permission to Use Them. Ukraine has many disadvantages in defending itself against a much larger opponent. Restricting the use of long-range missiles shouldn’t be one of them.
9 September 2024. Although President Joe Biden’s administration has pledged “unwavering support” for Ukraine, it has been cautious to a fault in practice. The latest example: supplying the Ukrainians with sophisticated long-range missiles but prohibiting their most effective uses.
Since last year, West has been sending Ukraine British and French long-range missiles, as well as the more versatile US-supplied Army Tactical Missile System, known as ATACMS. Such munitions have proved effective in hitting military facilities in Crimea and elsewhere in occupied Ukraine. Yet the Biden administration has vetoed their use inside Russia itself.

The gut-wrenching loss of Ukraine F-16 chasing Iranian-made drones @low altitude proof positive Ukraine’s airforce becoming more aggressive & capable, but is a sober combat lesson for U.S. vs. China. Daily air battles against missiles & drones over Ukraine sky only a taste U.S. bases & allies could experience in event of war. This tell you. Almost certainly, pilot, identified as Col. Alexei "Moonfish" Mes, was very aggressive in defense his home land. Russia had launched attack Ukraine with 127 missiles and 109 one-way attack drones on Aug. 26. Mes already taken out several, reported as 3 cruise missiles, a drone, expending 4 or more weapons from his jet. "The loss of a pilot is incredibly painful to bear, especially as he was among those who fought for Ukraine’s right to have F-16 aircraft," a former pilot Ukrainian Air Force, told New York Times on Sat
Mes still had weapons available & several hundred rounds in F-16’s 20mm Gatling gun shooting Shahed 136 drones flying at about 115 mph in relatively slow & low, making them enticing, vulnerable targets for skilled fighter pilots. But the risks go up for pilots, they continue to engage at lower altitudes to target fixation can overtake caution in intense moments, imagine pressure when missiles are heading for civilians & your countrymen. So tragic loss of F-16 is hard for Ukraine as shows. Russia / Putun who should be worried. Here’s why, with F-16s, Ukraine’s air becoming more aggressive & capable. Mes praised F-16’s sophisticated avionics in an interview. "F-16 is very maneuverable. It encourages you to pilot in an aggressive style," he told an interviewer.
The insider view from long Air Force experience is that crashes like this are often a marker of growing combat prowess across airforce, as top pilots push F-16 to its limits. U.S. & NATO are committed to air power for Ukraine, finally, past caring about Putin’s warnings about escalation. Note:
F-16 was a very capable jet, tuned up by U.S. elite 68th Electronic Warfare Sq. Last mth, squadron reprogrammed electronic warfare subsystems for Ukraine’s F-16s to counter evolving Russian jamming and spoofing. Firing the commander galvanizes accountability, most professional air forces do it routinely, of course, it’s still shocking to me that dilatory decision-making by President Biden’s team delayed arrival of handful F-16s until Aug 2024. Now there’s no going back. Ultimately, Ukraine’s Air Force will have between 60-80 F-16s supplied via NATO who decided to ignore Putin’s rantings threats.
Ukraine can finally defeat Russia if armed with long range weapons:
Providing jets is important to protect Ukraine from further escalation from Russia. Ukraine’s willingness to use & lose a F-16s in combat strengthens country’s defenses. Specific combat lessons from Ukraine will apply to future tactics. In just
1-mth of op, barely handful of F-16s have shown it latest tactics call to get in close to kill drones & missiles. The scenarios differ, U.S. & allies are getting a fair amount of tactical feedback from Ukraine.
Senior U.S. officials said this mth, they did not believe F-16 was lost to "friendly fire" during melee. Where Ukraine’s airforce will investigate. Airmen don’t speculate b4 full investigation is complete, this is 1-mishap report that avidly followed by NATO airmen from chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff General C.Q. Brown, himself a F-16 pilot, on down to every jet pilot from Finland to Turkey and beyond.

While waiting for a green light from Western countries to use their long-range weapons to strike targets deep inside Russia, Ukraine is relying on domestically produced drones, which are considerably cheaper than missiles and no less effective.
In recent months, Ukraine has increased the number of strikes using homemade drones against Russian critical infrastructure essential to powering Russia's war machine. Faced with attacks using dozens of drones at once, the Russian air defense proved to be overstretched and not always effective.
"
Despite Russia's extensive air defense capabilities, the limitations to protecting all targets effectively," Mattias Eken, a defense and security expert at RAND Europe, told the Kyiv Independent.
The objective is to demonstrate to the Russian populace that the state's defense capabilities are insufficient, highlighting vulnerabilities within Russia, Eken added.
