Births Deaths & Marriage records, headstone transcripts (not spatially identified), wills, newspaper articles (e.g. funeral notices), undertakers’ records (incomplete), osteological analysis and even archaeological evidence. In many instances it has not been possible to determine the separate identity of individuals within family plots. 1,973 individuals have been exhumed, with 1,717 (87%) identified.
The remains have been transferred into new coffins for reburial at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery (expected to be in late January). Their names will be included on new memorials at Cornelian Bay and the Peel Street Memorial Reserve (Sandy Bay). A service will be held at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery on a date to be advised (probably late March). Details of the memorial service will be posted on this website ahead of the service at https://www.hutchins.tas.edu.au/former-q...humations/.
