SINGAPORE Political parties: They were busy over the weekend announcing new faces in their teams, ahead of the next general election that is widely expected to take place before the middle of the year. At various events on Saturday (Mar 29) and Sunday, the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) introduced a number of new candidates. The opposition S'pore Democratic Party (SDP) also announced its intention to contest in Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, which is currently helmed by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

GE2025: S'pore Democratic Party to contest in Marsiling-Yew Tee GRCSDP had contested Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC in the 2015 and 2020 General Elections but lost both times to the People's Action Party.  SDP had contested the GRC in the 2015 and 2020 General Elections but lost both times to People's Action Party (PAP), getting 31.27% of the votes and 36.82% respectively. The constituency will have 119,352 voters in the upcoming election.

Dr Chee announced, he would contest in new Sembawang West Single Member Constituency (SMC) for upcoming General Election. Sembawang West is among six new SMCs have been carved out, & it will have 24,153 voters.
